Help! Shaker bottle stinks. (serious)
I ran out of protein powder last week and I failed to wash out my shaker bottle after the last serving. When I did finally get around to it, the smell was nauseating. It's been four days now and I can't get the smell out of it. Any ideas?

Depends on the plastic. If it's a hard plastic, just let it soak for a few days. If it is soft plastic, throw it away since the smell has penetrated the plastic.

use sterilising soluttion, like the stuff for baby bottles. let it sit for an hour and it will be fine

im a polymer chemist and it's not rediculous at all. softer plastic is usually full of plasticizers and/or made of low molecular weight/low crystallinity polymers. all of these factors make the plastic more permeable to the small organic molecules responsible for bad smells, which are secreted by bacteria as a result of metabolism of the protein.
