seems every bloody thread i go into all i hear bout is protein shakes and oats can sum1 explain to me how important they are and whether a 16yo needs em

Yes Liam, very important, especially the staple supps. You dont HAVE to be taking whey protein but it is optimum for Pre Post workout and other times, plus its convienient. Also oats are a great mod GI carb source. I would advise you run a search on some solid diets for your goals and then you will find a wealth of info that will set you up nicely. Diet is THE most important part of BB. Of cvourse you have to push some weight (plenty!!) but diet is key to gains.

maybe creatine too - that's the age when i started creatine and it helped me become the 3rd strongest person on my football team by the time my senior year rolled around - then after the season it helped me become the strongest person in my school. I don't take creatine anymore for no certain reason. But if you are looking to pack on some size and strength maybe try some creatine.
but as protein is concerned you should get about 75-85% of daily protein from whole foods, and taking a shake or two a day is a good plan to get all those extra aminos essential for muscle growth that some whole foods do not provideTransforming in 2012!
