I have a feeling you'd see the same if not better results from a good protein blend (Nitrean, Xtreme Formulations Ultra Peptide, Syntrax Matrix).
Reasoning...
Quote:
Honestly: it doesn't matter. If you want to have whey before bed, go for it. Even a scoop of whey is going to elevate blood amino-acid concentrations for a good 3 hours; it's not like your body is going to oxidize amino acids or big-picture proteolysis is going to run any differently with whey as opposed to any other protein source. Your body is more than equipped to handle an amino-acid influx, regardless of what hour of the day it occurs.
Ultimately, at the end of the week, or month even, the fractional difference in nitrogen retention using a slow-digesting protein vs. a fast-digesting protein is going to be so marginal that I'm not even sure it would add up to any significant difference in final net anabolic effect. Outside of the workout nutrition time-frame, it essentially amounts to 95% amount (total protein consumption), about 4% quality, and about 1% timing. If you want to slow down the digestion and don't mind extra calories (and more protein), mix it with some milk, cottage cheese, or peanut butter. If you don't, it's really not going to make a damn of a difference if your total daily protein intake is 1g/lb bodyweight or greater.

humm, protein in a pill form, sounds pretty convenient...here on some of the benefits taken from PF website.
Advantages of Rifle.
1) Contains the highest amount of growth factors over any protein powder in existence. In some cases, it contains over 10 times the amount of growth factors than whey protein.
2) Contains the lowest molecular weight protein peptides over any protein powder in existence.
3) Contains new proteins such as hemoglobin hydrolysate, and whey-GF.
4) Contains a guaranteed amount of IGF-1 at over 10,000 nanograms/gram
Don’t ask me how many grams of protein there are in each serving!!!! This product is not about grams of protein. It is about the protein subfraction and peptide content. Rifle contains in some cases over 10 times more growth factors than a 50 gram serving of protein. Not only that but it contains proteins NEVER before offered to consumers, UNTIL NOW! Remember this is a very cutting edge product, with incredibly high amounts of subfractions and peptides.

If they contained 10 grams of protein per tab and the price was right, I would buy them just for the convenience.

I made some good strength gains on week 2 and 3 i jumped up 4 reps on bench and close grip presses. every time i move up on a new weight my strength usally goes up by 2 reps and once in a great while i will get 3 reps out, so i know something is going on here. plus my body weight is creaping up to 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks and my body weight has always been the same since summer and the pumps are great too. my sleep has not been too great latley it's probley the tabs it does have a lot of igf-1 in it. best time to take it is right after a workout and non training days first thing in the morning for me. but remember every one will not respond to a supplements like others will. Iam almost 42 yrs old was one of the smallest kids in high school at 5'7 125 pounds till age 26 then i got hooked on lifting iron. now iam at prob. 194

Rifle is certainly an "elitist" supplement. Great, if you have the extra money, but not a priority if you're on a budget.
Incidentally, the "BIG BLAST" protein powder has the super plasma protein which is very high in IGF-1 (Over tens times that of colostrum) and it's a lot more cost effective -- not a "budget" product by any means, but considering what it contains it's a very good value.
Whey "fractions" I believe, is the wave of the future. It's a higher grade, more assimable form of protein than anything out there. What that amounts to in actual muscle growth is uncertain, to be honest, but it's essentially more of what you want from a protein supplement.

Anyone else try these pills? I'm thinking about buying them, sometimes I can't have a shake at work, because I'm lactose intolerant. These would be very convenient for me.

Whey Protein Isolate is lactose free, so you could look into that.
