I know a lot of you probably avoid "New Years Resolutions" like the plague. We all know how notorious they are for failing and becoming disappointments. I've got one that I really need to stick to though.
I completely tore my rotator cuff a few months back. I am now 5 weeks post operative and going through some pretty humbling and painful rehab. I am finally beginning to get some decent range of motion and will soon get the green light to take off this damn sling and begin light weight movements.
It so happens that New Years Eve will correspond with my finally being able to get back in the gym. I am so completely fired up, this three month period has given me a chance to look at my goals and to realize how very important this aspect of my life is to me, I miss the feeling of challenging myself terribly. I intend to make this the very best year of my life. I will finish '08 in the best condition of my life.
I sincerely hope that all my friends here have a great holiday season and I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm with everyone on these boards next year.
Todd.

Congratulations & no doubt you'll have a great year. Just don't let that 'fire' burn that RC again (or the other one!). Train for now & 1000 tomorrows. (Who said that? I did! )

Yeah, part of me is afraid to push it too hard and part of me is anxious to get back to where I was before. I'm sure my personality is going to make this hard to balance. I sure as HELL don't want to go through it again.

From experience I can tell you that you need to listen to your body, Before you go back make sure you are off all painkillers so you can feel the pain. The pain is your body telling you to slow down. I made the mistake of going back too early once and I ended up having another surgery and 18 months of recovery on top of it.
Good luck bro!

Hey Todd,
I can empathize, having just cleared 6 months post-op for a labrum tear. Best of luck with your re-birth and make sure to listen to your doctor's / physical therapist's instructions.
