How many protein shakes per day?

Before I get flamed.........I tried to search but it isnt working.

Im curious to know how many protein shakes people are drinking a day. I know it depends on goals and body weight but yall get the point.

Im 220lbs and sometimes, on days Im too busy to fix meals, I drink 200 grams worth of whey and micellar.

I drink one in the morning with a big bowl of oats, one pre wo, one post wo, and one right before bed and I always use two scoops for my shakes. Im currently using the ON whey during the day, cytogainer post wo and ON micellar before bed. Yes, it gets expensive!

On top of this I eat usually 3 full meals a day. I know whole foods are always better than shakes, thats why they are called supplements.

So, who else uses this much? Anyone else use more?

wait, 200g in one shake?? dude you are pissing away 3/4 of that.. if you can, try upping your meals..

i hope i read that wrong, cause if you are doing 200g a shake and i believe doing it more than once a day, you are wasting A LOT of protein and money..

Instead of relying on pure whey to cover your meals, you may want to look into MRPs or make your own with added healthy fats and healthy carbs....

Just know Whole food > Shakes keep this in mind when you are making a meal. If you can do whole food do it, but if life/school/work is in the way a shake is def. better than nothing.

The folks getting 150-200grams of their daily protein through whey are not doing themselves any favours. In my opinion whey should only be consumed around the workout window.

I agree. I always have a whole food meal pre-workout vs a shake. Just try to eat more and drink less. You will notice a difference.

I guess you do what you have to do....but an MRP or whole food would be better. Pure whey is pretty useless unless it's post workout.

i have 3 shakes a day with 4-5 whole food meals.

My 1st shake is in the morning, its been 7-9 hours with no protien and your body is in a catabolic state, so first thing you need is some quik digesting protien, so i use 1 1/2 scoops Natural Whey mixed with Milk

Then post workout i have 1 cup oats, 1 tbsp. Natty penut butter, 3/4 scoop Whey and 3/4 scoop Casien.

Then right before i go to sleep i ahev 1 scoop casien, 1 scoop Whey mixed with milk.

first thing in the morning, pre and post are good times for shakes... 50g of protein per shake is more than enough so if your going over that then you should eat more whole foods

Not really shakes, but protein powder twice a day - in the AM with oats and casein at night.

2-4 depending on schedule, i gotta do what i have to sometimes. Prefer to eat whole meals like chicken breast and steak, but sometimes time doesn't permit it. At a minimum i always add peanut butter to my shakes and depending on cutting or bulking i will add oats and/or dextrose around the workout window.

I have one whey shake when I wake up, one PWO, and one casein shake before bed.

Once in a while I will down another whey shake if I had to go a long time w/o a real meal.

Anyone else use more?
if you're in your first year of bodybuilding you should be taking in mostly protein shakes

I would suggest only 1-2. You really should be getting a majority of your cals/protiens/carbs/fats from whole meals.
