Shrug Hex Bar
Very off topic but I decided to get a hex bar for my gym I have at home for various reasons. The biggest reason being I tried one and the positioning and comfort is just far superior to a barbell in my opinion, I've always felt akward going really heavy with a barbell.
Anyways anyone have any recommendations for where to get a good solid product. I've looked around but some of them look identical but cost 2x as much so if someone could assist me here that'd be great.

I really like mine. I scored it as a freebie when I bought a leg press.
I have a power rack also , but if I was pressed for space I'd go with just the shrug bar for deadlifts and some power block dumbells.

I think the dead lift is the most power building and total exercise there is. I am not a gym member so I have not had a chance to try the hex shrug bar for deadlifts. I do find the straight bar somewhat awkward when doing deadlits. How do you like yours and do you think there is any difference in the muscles involved between the two bars?

The shrug bar involves more legs, with less lower back. It probably involves MORE total muscle, than the straight bar deadlift. These day's I mainly use the shrug bar for deads, and the straight bar for rack pulls (partial deads).

Thanks again DINO I have been doing my deadlifts from a height of 14" because going clear to the floor really seemed uncomfortable. I would like to have both bars, but I do want to get some good lower back work from the deadlifts. Pavel T. uses deadlifts only and no squats!!

That's why I do both. The shrug bar makes deadlifting from the floor more comfortable, and the rack pulls take most of the legs out of the equation, and let's you concentrate on pulling with the back. Also, try one arm barbell deadlifts "suitcase" style a la Pavel T. Excellent for the lower back.
