49%/38%/13%, pretty close to that 50/40/10 that I've heard tell of...

This of course includes roughly a gallon and a half of water daily plus my multi vitamin...
    I weigh 179,5'11" with 10-11% body fat
I'm trying to cut up without losing muscle..

MY calories for the last two weeks were well below that and I lost muscle I went from 187 and 12% down to 179 and 10.5 % in two weeks and I look friggin skinny.. so this is my hopped-up new edition... please all input is greatly appreciated...

Hi JC, I'm cutting too and I looked at your diet and the only thing that see wrong is that you don't have enough healthy fat. Why are you only doing 13% fat intake? In my opinion you need more good fat in your diet.

Hopefully you're get more responses. Cutting is not a "Hot Topic" for most during the Christmas season.

I concur. I think switching the fat/carb macro percentages around would be preferable, though balancing them might be the best bet...

Thank you .. and that is true, Holidays are a weird time to cut but this is my pre-bulk, cut another 3 weeks and then it's bulk for 8 weeks, until March, then a week off, and into the next 8week sculpting... I agree about the fat, I usually take a little more fish oil than I listed, so I may up that and everyone has suggested Almonds which is my favorite snack.. two handfuls a day about 40 will do the trick.. again thanks and have a happy!

Yes it is ... a little too well actually. That diet there is an updated version allowing fully another 500 calories.. I was eating only 1700 and my muscle loss was significant. ..
here is that diet with less protein and a little more fat...

When you're talking macros, the 50% protein is fine, but 40% fat to 10% carbs is better than the inverse, as you posted it. Protein/fat/carbs at 50/30/20 or 50/25/25 tends to be more useful than 50/10/40...if you run fat too low, it tends to introduce joint lubrication problems, among other negatives. If you're cranking heavy weights, you will likely find this to be extremely detrimental.

    Diet not cut

I think that you are hitting it just a little too aggressively, what is the hurry? The faster you try to loose fat the faster your going to loose LBM. Go back to your original diet prior to your changes and just knock of 300-500 calories a day, this along with your cardio will target 1~2 lbs week. Remember it takes a long time to build 1lb LBM.
Squat it does a body good!

you are right... I was only eating about 1800 calories to begin with and when I started to cut I dropped it down to less than 1700...Eliott Darden the father of HIT basically uses this formula of 180lbs x 10 = 1800 ... I had been at 227 when I started and was eating for weight loss, when I started packing on LBM very quickly is when I realized I had some natural ability with the sport... but my eating was still focused on weight loss... hence the 1700 calories, throw in daily cardio sessions and 1700 was breaking me down in short order... revamped upped the calories and immediately felt stronger and much better with the weights... probably lost at least 2 lbs of muscle that's the bad news, the good news, I think I have a handle on it and as I am in it for the long haul.. I should be growing here while shedding the fat...
    Thanks
