How much cardio do you do daily/weekly?
Just trying to get a sense of who does what. I know more cardio leads to more weight loss, but can also impact muscle loss.
So how many minutes/hours a week?

More is not always better. I have gotten leaner doing only 2 days of cardio and eating EXTREMELY clean...and I'm definitely no ecto. Some people can get away with no cardio at all.

60 minutes 5 days a week
60 minutes 5 days a week, mostly because I like to eat too much.
I do it before lifting, because if I try to do it after lifting, I am too tempted to dump the cardio.
Not theoretically optimum, but optimum for me.

45mins 6 days a week here. If you keep your heart rate below 70% you should keep the muscle burning to a minimum (10-15%) and the rest will come from fat.

5-6 days a week.
45 minutes of running on non-lifting days, followed by about 20 minutes of bag work
30 minutes on lifting days (except leg days), no bag work.

Wow that is a lot of cardio. I have always been under the impression that 3-4 times a week at 30 minutes intervals was decent, throw in some HIIT in there and that was good.

Directed at me?
Well.... It's really only 5 days. I'll sometimes do six, but usually I'm too tired.
That's leaves me with about an hour of cardio 3 days a week, and 2 30 minute sessions. That's not too bad. HIIT? I know it's good, but I really don't care for it. I'll do it the normal way.

40 minutes, 5 days a week. Up to 83% heartrate constant now. Perhaps theoretically higher heartrate burns more muscle but if you check my progess you'll see that's definately not the case for me. All I know is I get a better post workout EPOC and burn more calories by going all out.
Don't do anything unless you're gonna give it your all.

I wouldn't worry about burning muscle with too much cardio unless your a hard gainer. It typically takes the equivalent of running 20 miles before your body will start to use muscle as an energy source....so unless your running for more than an hour per day you shouldn't worry aout doing too much cardio.

Once a week: 1 hour of really intensive workout.
Twice a week: 1 hour of regular cardio.
Twice a week: 1 hour of walking, not very intesive workout.
Thats what I do right now.

45 minutes 3 days a week, 21-22 miles per week roughly 830-850 cals burned each session.
im getting to the point where i only have maybe 5-10 pounds to lose..should i add more cardio to boost calorie deficits do you think? (i take in around 1900 cals a day, weigh 170 now)

for those of you that do cardio post-workout.. do u take your protein shake before you start ur cardio?..
I thought that ur supposed to drink ur protein shake within 20 minutes after weightlifting, otherwise it wont get absorbed into the muscle groups you worked out as efficiently?
