Is there something wrong with me? I get a little embarassed hearing so many compliments. I sometimes try to not listen to them because I am afraid subconciously that I wont work as hard because others are happy with my current status. Don't get me wrong I LOVE hearing it and for the most part use it for motivation. I guess it is just me trying to be humble. For instance last night while training I took off my shirt to practice poses. Pboy I totally agree, posing makes you harder and makes your program way more intense. Anyway, my freinds kept coming up to me and saying "dude you look great." And when I replied with "yeah but I am nowhere near ready!" They say yeah but look where you came from.
My point is that on the show day I am not going to be able to walk over to the judging table and hand them my before pics and say "Hi, I know I am not the biggest guy and I am not the most cut but look where I cam from."
Thanks again everyone please keep posting (good and bad both appreciated!)
I am going Keto, I wasn't planning to but the fat is not going fast enough, I am 26 days out, and I am very nervous. So, 25 to 30 grams of carbs for the next two days followed by 300 to 400. I am looking forward to rice.

For me 4 and 3 weeks out are the toughest point. You've (in general, not you specifically, jay) already been dieting forever, and even though you have lost a lot of fat and others think you look ready, you know you've still got a long way to go and you're running out of time.
At 2 weeks out though, you really start to see some great definition and striations. For me it's all downhill from there, at least mentally.Dixi

Thanks I feel better knowing I am not alone. And yes, I have been dieting clean since June 20th. I have been on pre contest diet since Aug 4th (upping and downing calories, you know how it is). Originally I wasn't planning to go Keto, my plan was to just diet down. This aint gonna cut it. So I am 4 weeks today amd tomorrow are 30 gram carb days thursday is a load and the cycle continues.....................................

its an otc NSAID. It's non-aspirin..active ingredient is ketoprofen, 12.5mg for non-rx strength. i found it by accident after they gave me the rx strength for tendinitis in my elbow. i have a history of migraines, tried it with one of them and it worked.

Yeah you are right, thanks for your concern. My bi's and abs are my main focus right now. The pics last posted were taken a few weeks ago. I am now fluctuating between 188 and 193 (carb cycling) and I am about 5-6 pounds lighter. My mid section looks much better and I have not yet started to water deplete but no matter what I feel my midsection will be somewhat of a weak point for this show.
This is my first show and I intend to do my second in June.
What am I doing to get rid of it... Well, my diet is on and I am following it to a "t" which really is making me cranky. I am still doing about 3 and a half hours of cardio a week. I am using a neoprene belt to help draw water out and I even bought cutting gel out of desperation. Beleive it or not it seems to be working, well something is, I am also using prep H, and thiomucase. During the week prior to the show I will use some mild diuretics, I plan to lose about 5 pounds of water. I think that will really help because I have always held a lot of water. From start to finish I have weighed myself twice a day everyday (just for tracking and curiosity) My weight will go up by 5 to 6 pounds just from water intake over a 12 hour period.
Tonight I will post some newer pics. Sorry about them, I had my gym owner take them and he did not zoom in very well. Next week I am having my trainer take them and I will be sure to get closer shots...
In your opinion what else needs work??? I appreciate the comentary...

Wow, you and I are almost on the same track.
You're close to the finish line, so hang in there. I know the dieting sucks. That's the one thing I hate most about competing, but it also gives me the greatest sense of accomplishment. Realizing that I was able to stick it out and stay dedicated for as long as I did (for me 50 days), makes me proud.
One of the reasons I stay lean year round is because of the dieting thing. It's VERY difficult to cut for a competition. Back in 1993 my friend Phil decided to compete in our local show. He bulked up from 200 to 230 and when he cut, he was down to 165 by the day of his show. He was taking in close to 9,000 calories a day during his bulking period and in order to shed all that weight, he had to start his diet in July. Our show is in Early to Mid-November. He did cardio constantly and was watching his food for what seemed like forever. Anywho, after watching that, I said, "Dang, I think I'll just stay moderately lean in the off-season, cuz that's just too much for me to go through." Phil is 5'9" and normally weighs around 190-200, so the extra 30 lbs. didn't look too bad on him, but it was a challenge to lose it once he had it.
So hey... you're in good company. Your legs look great. As you lose bodyfat and water, your detail will come out. You'll doubt yourself all the way until the day of the show. It happens to all of us. Remember, a lot of your "negative" thoughts are your brain's reaction to the low carbs. You will be cranky and irritable, and hopefully your loved ones are understanding. When I'm having one of my pre-contest moments, I always warn my friends and family that "Grumpus is in the building, so hide the breakables."
Good luck! I look forward to seeing your progress.

Abdominator, thanks that really means a lot. I try to use both negative and positive but when you hear people pushing for you it really gives you an added boost.
I am like your friend phil, I like my food and in May to mid June I was 245. Sometimes I swear i could strangle someone just for eating in front of me. Other times I am so tired there is a black nothingness in my mind and I just sit and stare. LOL
Wednesday this week I had to go thru 2 aspirin 4 tylenol, and 2 tylenol cold and sinus to get rid of the low carb headache.
I guess I should learn a lesson from this show. My second show will be in June 2003 and my plan is to bulk up to 225 230 and cut back down to 198. 30 pounds in 3 months is better than 65.
I will post pics around 8:30 EST.
Thanks again and later.

Sorry I have been so behind. I have been really busy. Here are some pics from about two weeks ago. This is my week of and I am trying to kick a cold while lowering my water intake... Sucks huh. I was actually told I had to stop taking my Amoxacillian because of its high sodium content...

Well everyone... I didn't place in my show but I think I did very well. I was told by a judge that I did an excellent job for my first show. I only plan to use this non win for fuel for my next show. I will be doing my next show in June of 2003.
For those of you who have not yet competed, be careful, it is very addictive. I had a blast (except for the carb and water depleting the last couple of days).
All in all I did well and will be posting pictures very soon. I transformed myself from 245 to 175 in less than 4 months. That is a 75 pound loss. And my body fat went all the down to 6% on the day of the show. What I find very funny is that I gained 18 pounds back in 2 DAYS! LMFAO!!!
I plan to shoot up to 220 - 225 AND BEGIN DIETING DOWN again in March. This time I will diet down to about 190-195 as a light heavyweight and not a middleweight.
Thanks for the support everyone. I can't wait to start lifting heavy again... My goal is for a 415 bench, 500 squat, and 570 deadlift.
The judges said I nees more arm size and devolopment so I want to find a way to blast my arms and really bring up a bad body part.
Later,

Thanks, everyone was impressed with my back. In fact I think I had the class beat there but I need to bring up lagging body parts and definitely get harder and dryer for my next show. I couldn't get as hard as I wanted this time around mostly (I beleive) because I had to drop so much weight for this show. SO, I need to gain without getting too fat this time!
Thanks for the compliments bro. I will try not to let everyone down...

I have posted my diets and training plans pretty much all the way in. I posted less frequently the closer I was to the show date because I was spending more time in the gym and became very tired.
Thank you all for the support! It really does help! This sounds corny but ANYONE CAN DO THIS! You just have to really want to and let nothing stand in your way. I made a decision and stuck with it.
No I have to focus on bulking in a slow and steady fashion. If I am not careful I could gain this all back in a matter of weeks. What an incredible feeling it is to have carbs again. I feel like I have a ton of energy and my entire body seems to be swelling. I can't wait to get back into the gym. Part of my plan was to take this whole week off from the gym as a reward and prevention mechenism of injury and burnout, not to mention to enjoy some time with my wife! THis whole thing was a little tough on her too. We had not eaten dinner together since May.
ANyway, next week I go back to the gym and I have a 5 month bulking period which I intend to:
Bench 415
Squat 500
Deadlift 570
Try to grow my arms between 1.5 to 2 inches.
Thanks again all and as soon as I get pics of the show devoloped I will post them.
