Can one body part recover faster than others?

When I first started working out years ago, I used to do the whole bench and curl thing. I did this for about a year. I then started learning more and my body looks a lot more uniform now. This has been five years plus ago. Here is my current split:

day 1: Chest/tri's
day 2: Back/Bi's
day 3: Shoulders
day 4: Legs
day 5: Off
Day 6: Repeat

Well, I was looking at pictures, and my chest was huge when I worked it out 3 times a week. It always seemed to recover with only one day off. It seems like I don't need that must rest for chest as I do other body parts (legs in particular). Would it be a bad idea to throw in another light chest day in the mix? My chest could be bigger to be more uniform.

That's probably because in your early days, you trained your chest for higher work capacity and developed superior recovery abilities for chest. You should emphasize the other bodyparts until you have a balance of work capacity and recovery, not just visual proportion...even if that means minimal chest work relative to other lifts.

Legs definitely recover slower for me. I am thinking about modifying my split to do upper body twice a week and legs once a week. Its currently once per four days for each body part, but my legs are constantly sore.

Monday - Chest/Back Always Supersetting
Tuesday - Shoulders/Arms supersetting Arms
Wednesday - Legs 5x5 Squats, 1x20 Leg Press till Failure, 2xWalking BB Lunges across the entire Gym.
Thursday - Chest/Back Always Supersetting
Friday - Shoulders/Arms Supersetting Arms

to the OP.....how old are you?? If you were like 17 years old or younger when you had those wonder recovery times its probably because you were still naturally growing....I used to work arms 3-4 times a week too when I was like 15
