    Wink Rotator Cuffs

Before anyone decides to go under the knife..... Read this.....

The same exact thing happened to me a year ago. I was lifting very heavy and I ripped my rotator cuff. It gradually started to hurt and got worse. But, I only tore or ripped the rotator cuff which is what usually happens. A trainer at my gym said it is like small tares in each of the cuff muscles. Because of it, I could not lift do to the major pain which made me miserable.

Anyways, to make a long story short... The trainer at my gym told me to go to this website and try this therapy?

    bodyresults.com/E2RotatorCuff.asp

*** put "www" before that link. I cant becuase im new here and they dont let me put links in here now. ***

I bought a 3lbs dombel weight at Wal-Mart for $4 bucks and started the therapy thinking, what have I got to loose.

After the first week of therapy exercises, I was already feelling improvement. Then after one month there was major improvement. After 4 months, I upped the weight with a 5lbs dombel.

(Never go over 5lbs. This is therapy, not lifting)

After one year of doing this therapy, I am now lifting heavier than ever, and with strong Rotator Cuffs.
I do this therapy everyday now. This keeps my rotator cuffs strong and healthy.

I also take Joint Supplements for joint and ligament health. Most people dont and suffer becuase of it. I take Animal Flex, which works.

Good luck and let me know what ya all think.

    Joe

i had a scope done on may 21st on my left shoulder, im out of my sling and moving around, i had a bone chip floating around in my shoulder, excessive amounts of scar tissue, and torn ligaments, i got four screws put in and sewed to everything. i ve been doing rehab since 10 days after surgery and i can raise my shoulders to the same height so im pretty pleased. trying to gauge when ill be ready for hockey, im thinking probably around fall.

its good to see youve made an almost complete recovery man(bigall33), i have been checking up on this journal sporadically.

Just did my first upper workout in 6.5 months yesterday!!!!

    did all these REALLY light

    chest press (5 inch ROM)
    db row
    cable row
    pull down
    db curls
    tricep pushdown

felt great! Obvisouly some pain but nothing crazy. And today my shoulder feels great!! Still the normal pain, but thankfully the workout didnt aggrivate it!

Have a appt. with my ortho. on monday for my 2 month check up

Good to hear man. Just be careful coming back; go slow. If you go too fast you will get a nice flare up of bicep tendonitis (which I did How's everyone else doing?

Where's BigAl, our founding father on this thread? Haven't heard from him in a while.

The latest on this chick's RC repair:
    - physical therapy continues a couple times a month
    - rockin' out my workouts, still light on flat bench presses and no overhead presses
    - finally figured out how to use bb.com's Workout Tracker feature so take a look. Still live by my log book though.

The only thing at this point (4 mos. post-op) that still sucks sometimes is grasping the bar with both hands when doing squats in the cage or something on the smith machine. Surg. arm gets tweaked once in a while in that position.

I was wondering what was up!

You been able to do any pressing motions yet Al or does it bother your shoulder? Able to get back in a routine yet or is it still painful?

Oh, and I see your thread is stickied Al, nice! Hopefully more people will stop on in and vent.

Yes, I can do presses, I am using very light weights, high reps. I hav'nt done anything overhead yet, just my own arm weight, its coming along though. I don't know what "stickied" means......

Trish: Sounds like are coming very nicely, thanks for the update, keep us posted...LOL @ "Founding Father"

Thumbs up 15 Weeks Post OP

Beef X: gl man, you'll be fine. Let us know how it goes.

Lax: Write your progress as much as you can man, let us know how you're doing. GL healing up.

Sorry I haven't been posting lately, my comp has been giving me some troubles. Hope everyone is doing well.

15 weeks Post OP today. Last Friday, I saw my ortho for the last time. He gave me his card, said I had graduated, and to call him if any problems may resurface. He said I'm normal and can continue what I used to do (AKA Back to lifting baby)

I was very happy to hear this from him. My shoulder feels strong now. Once in a while it may ache or have slight discomfort, but this feeling decreaes as the weeks go on. A couple of weeks ago, I posted that my non-surgical shoulder felt weak and not as strong. For this past two weeks or so, I have been doing rc work on both shoulders, and paying closer attention to my non-surgical shoulder to build it up. Now they both feel fine and strong. Well as much as possible for the moment .

Today was my first day back in the gym. I lifted upper body (chest, shoulders, tri's today) for the first time in about 14 months! It felt good to get a pump going in the upper body, but slightly discouraging b/c of all the mass and strength I have lost. But this does not upset me at all. I knew once I finally got to this point I'd be back at square one, which I am clearly at. I'll keep lifting and put back all the muscle onto my frame that I have lost. Of course I am lifting light with more reps (about 40-50% of the weight I used 14 months ago), but the poundage will increase as my shoulder and strength progress.

I'm taking fish oil and Animal Flex now to help my joints. Seems to be working well.

    How's everyone else progressing?
    Both Al's whats going on?
Ryan hows the weight room treating you? What are your lifts looking like?

Warrior: Everything is going great, Light weights and high reps, nothing overhead yet. Glad to hear your back at it. I guess your non surgery shoulder feels weaker because its probably been doing most of the work and is tired. Thats what they said happened to me. It sure does'nt hurt to do the rc exercises for both shoulders for sure, keep em strong. Animal Flex and Fish oil, just got my animal flex and will star taking it.... everyone says good things about it.. Keep it up!!!

For my RC tear (orthroscopic surgery) they had me start physical ther. like 3-4 days after surgery. Had surgery on a Thursday and first PT visit the following Monday.

Hey guys, I've read through the thread and I just thought I'd stop by and let you all know that I'll probably be joining you soon... I have a torn labrum, I just talked to the doctor today and he said that sooner or later I will have to get surgery. So since I still have 6 weeks left of summer I'll probably do it soon so I have time to recover before school... I'm pretty bummed out about this

That motion to reach back behind the bar is probably the last raneg of motion you will get back. if your shoulder is stable, then you just need to stretch it out. if you don't have someone that can help you stretch it out, just grab hold of the squat bar and push yourself into it and just hold it.

I had my surgery at the end of January, Ortho gave me the green light to start back without restrictions today.
    woohoo!
Of course I'll be taking it slow, but it is such a huge relief to know that I can get back on my path. In a way this has really lit a fire under my @ss. I had been complacent with my body and lifts for the past several years, not really pushing myself towards a specific goal. not anymore.

I would definitely go through the surgery again as i could nto even push open a door with that arm, but i would definitely go to a different place for my therapy. If you are about to start therapy or thinking about getting surgery, do your research on the therapists in your area. try to find a PT who is a certified athletic trainer or certified in strength and conditioning. My lousy PTs were used to dealing with old men. they just kept asking me about my ROM for a golf swing and when i tried ot get them to work on certain motions for lifting they basically just ignored me and kept doing the same stretches.

Anyone in the Washington DC area- do NOT use Commonwealth Physical therapy. my surgeon was good though.
