    College student affordable diet

im currently a college student at OSU and need to lose some fat/ weight just like all of us here. i was 215 and got down to 177 during the summer while i had a club membership and decent amount of money. but now being back in college im broke fi broke. so what's a good cheap diet(food costs) to help me lose weight/fat. also for supps i'll be taking Redline caps, CLA, Musclemilk Protein shakes, and probably some green tea extracts. any criticism of my diet or supps is welcome. thanks guys

vegetables, protein, fats, and carbs don't have to cost much but you have to shop around. tuna, sardines, oatmeal in bulk, brown rice, eggs - none of that is really pricey unless you buy organic or shop at a gourmet store. try to buy the family packs of protein and stock up when things are on sale.

i don't really care for muscle milk because of high fat content. isopure low-carb protein has 52g of protein for much less calories...also, i don't care for redline because I, personally, get the shakes and jitters from it. I'm in college, like you, and have been having a hard time eating healthy(gained twenty pounds my first semester) but tuna is a staple. Whole wheat pasta, lowfat cottage cheese, and chicken. Just a few of my favorites that I can afford
Now, a question of etiquette - as I pass, do I give you the ass or the crotch?

#1 and most important: buy in bulk
#2: buy when there are sales
#3: buy parts of chicken that are cheaper, like the legs or whole chickens

But really, buy in bulk. It might be more expensive at first but in the long run you will save more.

Hey man, i go to OSU as well.

Why don't you just save the money you spend on the Gym membership and use the RPAC. Its state of the art.

Thats would save you like 50 a month.

What year are you at OSU?

If you're on a limited budget, drop the supplements and spend the money from them on food.

drop the the redline you really shouldnt need it if you eat the proper food or need it at all for that fact. what kind of budget are you working with weekly?

you can buy in bulk and cook all of your meals on one day for the week. buy frozen veggies, chicken, pork cutlets are even cheaper. drink only water and you will save there. drop the muscle milk and find a cheaper whey protein instead.

are you working out or just watching what you eat?

oh and go OSU! (ohio state that is)
