if it's a problem that you're going to the bathroom so much you can decrease... I don't know what exactly the cut off is but with extreme levels of hydration/overhydration you can actuallly do a lot of damage due to electrolyte imbalances and all that with so much water flushing the system.
i would expect things like irreg heart beat, arrythmias, muscle cramping but i'm not entirely sure...maybe someone has some more specific knowledge. I have heard of ppl drinking this much tho...whether or not it's still beneficial is another thing

This could be a diet issue.
Check what you are eating. You may have something with high sodium that you are not aware of.
Some of those powdered drink mixes have really high sodium. Some supplements also.
Also a symptom of early onset diabetes is extreme thirst.
If you can not figure it out , and the extreme need to consume high volumes of H2O is still present consider seeing your Doctor.

Wow, that's a lot of water!
I thought the 1 gallon a day that I drink was a lot.
I agree with the others, it seems like there must be something that is making you so dehydrated. I would contact my physician to see what was up. (if you find it's not something in the food that you're eating)

about 256 ounces a day.... 209 lbs... that's a lot of water but I don't think it's "too much"
better than not enough!!

Are you forcing it or are you really thirsty? Extreme thirst is a sign of diabetes......although it can mean many different things, it's something to consider. I drink a crapload of water too and everyone at work thinks its weird. But oh well, I'm sure they think a lot of my dietary habits are odd.

I drink anywhere from 1.5 - 2 gallons on a daily basis....be careful not to drink too much! There is a such thing as over hydration =)

The more you drink, the more water your body will excrete. When I drink more water, I get thirstier more often, because my body simply gets rid of it at a faster rate. I don't think 2 gallons is too much water, as long as you are getting rid of most of it. If you were hardly going to the bathroom at all, I would be a bit concerned.

I'm with Kaspar_19 on this one. I drink two or more gallons a day, no medical problems to speak of. I just like water. I'm thirsty. I drink. I pee. If you were holding onto the water, I might be concerned, but you're not, so I don't think there's anything to warrant going to a doctor for. As long as you feel good, and aren't having negative side effects, I believe it's a non-issue.

I recommend approximately an oz of water per lb of bodyweight. If you drink a lot of water you may want to take some electrolytes as well.

Hyponutremia--too much H20. Google it and see what you find. I am no expert and I drink a ton of water too...I try to taper it off around 4-5 pm so I am not up all night!

I actually asked my doctor how much water I should be drinking a while back. He told me that 100-120 ounces per day was ok, and for some of his younger patients he recommended 120-150 ounces per day. Keep in mind that I live in Phoenix and it does get extremely dry here. (Humidity levels in the single digits is not that unusual here.) Depending on where you live and how much you exercies, you will require less. My thirst seems to be satisfied at about 2 gallons or about 120 ounces per day.
