Can anyone clafiy on this topic? I've heard from certain gym trainers that consuming excessive protein supplements like whey will increase your chance of developing a kidney stone?
Please only serious responses and none of that humor garbage.
Thanks

it is true, but then again, drinkin to much gatorade can, eating to much salt can, pretty much anything can IF you dont drink enough water
water is the key, to tell you the truth, if you dont get enough water you will have kidney failure...its as simple as that
the thing is, your body will burn some of that protein as energy ect.. it is inevitable really, so that will produce waste, that waste has to be filtered out of your blood via the kidney, water assists in this process and dilution, w. out the water, the kidneys are working overtime 24/7 to clean your blood, sooner or later they will simple become so exhausted they gotta quit
here are some sites that go in depth big time

It's not on the subject of excessive protein intake and kidney stone formation, instead it is on the intake of calcium and kidney stone formation. It's not really relevant to this thread, but you may find it interesting anyways.

Try to work up to drinking half your bodyweight in ounces of water a day and you shouldn't have to worry about kidney stones. It's tough for me to drink 100 oz of water a day but I drink at least 2 liters (67 fl oz) during my 9 hour work shift.
