Cat's Journal
Okay, I am going to finally start a journal. I need something to hold me accountable. I am having surgery in 3 days, and I want something to look forward to and get me back going again. Following are my plans and measurements.
MEASUREMENTS:
Weight-117
Chest-36
Waist-27 (also bloated from endometriosis which is reason for surgery)
Hips-33
MidThigh-19
Calf-12.5
Bicep-11
Don't know exact body fat, keep getting different readings.
NUTRITION:
Breakfast- 1 cup cooked Oat Bran and 4 egg whites
Meal 2- Protein Shake w/ one tablespoon of flax oil
Lunch- Grilled Chicken Salad w/loaded veggies and low fat/low sugar dressing or Tuna Salad sandwich (homemade)
Meal 4- Whole Wheat Toast w/ Natty PB (pre workout)
Meal 5- Lean Protein w/ brown rice and veggies (post workout)
Meal 6- Lean Protein w/ veggies or just a protein shake w/ flax
WORKOUT:
Tues- Chest, Back, and Shoulders
Wed- Cardio only
Thur-Legs
Fri- Cardio only
Sat- Arms
Sun- Cardio only
Mon- OFF (busiest day)
These are the pics I took today...so this is my new starting point.
BTW, please advise all of your friends to NEVER quit smoking and get on birth control in the same month. That is the easiest way to pack'em on.

Welcome!
Hi Cat! Welcome to the forum. You already look great. You are going to look Fantastic in a couple of months. I won't offer nutrition advice till I get my own nailed down, but I'm sure Briar or someone will be along shortly. It's all good clean food anyway.
Would you list the exercises you have planned for each day? Your schedule looks well thought out.
Sorry to hear about your surgery. Hope it goes well and they don't feed you too much garbage in the hospital.

Yeah - NO KIDDING - IT WAS THE DEATH OF ME! I quit smoking and started to change around my B/C pills - talk about pounds - although I am CONVINCED that I have not been able to get back down to previous weight because I no longer smoke! It was 1 year in Aug.

Hey girl- one thing I am noticing is you are doing chest, back and shoulders all in one day. Lifting 2 larger muscles in the same day isn't a good idea. Always keep legs, back and chest on seperate days...this will ensure you are getting in a good w/o for each muscle. If you choose to do chest before your back- then your back is lacking- vice versa.
Anyways, you look good. Good luck with the surgery!

OH MY GOD! I totally agree! That is funny that you said that because my roommate and I were just saying that. I am convinced also of that fact! I think my metabolism got used to it and just is refusing to budge. But I refuse to start smoking again.

Hey, sillyvent! Thanks for the input. Where would you suggest that I put my shoulder routine?

My husband and I spoke of this on Saturday night. I told him I just need my cigs back and the weight would be gone. He said that it would be "neat" to see if I were to smoke again if the weight would come back off. Of course he was not really wanting me to start smoking to test this out - because me + quitting smoking = total JERK!

Hey I know you asked silly - BUT, I train shoulders and calves on one day. Recently I have been doing just shoulders one day and calves on Saturday - due to time restrictions.

I do this
Back/traps/shoulders/tris
Or Back/traps/shoulders/bis
I do like the sound of shoulders/calves too.
I also break up my routines and give Shoulders there own day once in a while.

I guess I could take calf training out of my Tues. and put it with shoulders on a seperate day, maybe on Sun? But I have to train my calves more than once a week. They are so resistant.

Okay, my mom and I just went to dinner because she is in town. She smokes a ton, and I was reminded why I quit! Perfect timing.

Hey, depends on how many days you want to lift. I lift 5 days a week so I do:
mon- legs and calves
tues- arms
wed- chest and abs
thurs- back and calves
fri- shoulders and abs
A 4 day split might be:
legs and calves
chest and tris
back and bis
shoulders and abs
Hope you are having a good day!

Well, I am home from the hospital. Doc says I can't workout until Monday. I feel fine even though I am doped up on pain meds. The surgery went well. When he went in, he saw very little endometriosis. But he did find that because of my past surgeries, my scar tissue binded my colon, ovaries, and uterus together. He said one of my ovaries was literally stuck to my colon. Weird huh? The bad thing he said was that it can all shift back just like it was before the surgery. And if that happens, and I decide to try to get pregnant, it will be difficult because of how far my ovaries were from my fallopian tubes. He told me that if I should not wait longer than I have to to start trying to have children. The problem is, the boyfriend that I have had four years and love deeply had a vasectomy many years ago. He had the kind back in the 80's that are non-reversable. SO I have a huge decision to make. I have always looked so forward to being a mother. Obviously, I need to move on and find someone that I can start a family with. I just don't know how I am going to do that because we are so close and love each other dearly. Anyway, I am fixin to go straight back to bed.

Wow that's a big decision. Have you talked about possibly adopting children?

That's an idea. But I truly want the whole experience of pregnancy and delivery. He is much older than I am. He is 50 and I am 27. He already has 3 daughters aged 24, 22, and 20. So the thought for him having anymore at this age is not appealing to him. (or his daughters) What is hard is that we work together, not in the same office but for the same company but we see each other daily at work. It would suck so bad for us to break up especially since our relationship is so strong, and have to see him all of the time at work. I would be a wreck. It would be one thing if we broke up because we didn't get along or if something happen, but to break up because I need to have a family will be hard. The good thing is that he totally understands my dillema, and I understand also where he is coming from. When we first got involved, we did not have the intention of carrying on like this. We were good work friends and then it just all happened before we could blink an eye.

That is a BIG issue though. You obviously want the family experience and he already has it. You HAVE to think about your future and what you both really want. You don't want to have a child-whether adopted or not with a man who doesn't want a child. For me that's a make it or break it situation....I want kids for sure so I couldn't do that. I understand that you love him, but eventually the future will come up and most likely he won't change his mind. Leaving someone you love is HARD, but sometimes it just makes sense. Hope you are having a great day!

Okay, stupid question of the day. How come I put 5 pics in my gallery and now there are only 2 in there? I don't understand, that's weird.
Anyway, today I am much more sore than yesterday. I can't believe the difference. I guess I felt better yesterday because I still had some of the hospital pain meds and anesthesia in my body. I don't know. But I woke up this morning at 5 am and felt like a diesel drove into my bedroom and ran over my stomach. I look like I am 4 months pregnant. Thank God for vicodine. And I have totally blown my diet. I ate ice cream last night and Chinese food today. Mom left this afternoon to fly home so it is now up to me again to fix my own meals. The problem is when I stand up it feels like my stomach is going to bust open. I did get my Omron Body Fat Analyzer in the mail. My mom set it up for me. I dared to test and it said 17.4%. I can't wait to put these few days behind me and get back on my routine.
Sillyvent, you are right I have a huge decision to make. I know that there is only one decision to make, I just don't know if I can do it yet. And he knows what's coming.

Okay, yesterday was brutal. I felt worse yesterday than any other day. But this morning I am feeling tons better. I am now eating 4 egg whites and 1 cup of cooked oat bran. I still can not work out, but my goal today is to start moving around more. Yesterday I was in so much pain I laid in bed all day. Now I have cabin fever. I will start with the laundry.

Thanks Vanessa for the compliments and encouragement!
Today I am feeling alot better. The swelling is has gone down a little, I will still have to wear my yoga pants. But I am going to the gym! I decided I am going to go do a real light circuit workout and walk on the treadmill. I will take it very easy, nothing heavy, and I will pay close attention to my body. I am just ready to move my body again. Hope all is well with everyone.

Meal 2- Burrito with Spinach tortilla, black beans, chicken breast, cheese (i know, it's my weakness) and pico.
Meal 3- Grilled Chicken Breast with brown rice.
Meal 4- Salad with Romaine, spinach, sliced turkey, cucumbers, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, croutons, and low fat Ranch.

I worked a graveyard shift last night, so I am all screwy today. I was up yesterday from 9:30 am until 6:30 am this morning. Then I slept from 6:30am until 1:30 this afternoon. I am soooo tired. I don't think I could do cardio if a guy was chasing me with a chainsaw. Hopefully, I will light a fire under my lazy ass and make myself do something. But the Cowboys game just ended and Desperate Housewives comes on in an hour. I don't see myself doing any cardio in the meantime. I am keeping my diet good considering I slept until the afternoon and plan on going to bed at 9:00pm. Tomorrow will be a different story, I am having some friends over for the football game and I will be making the classic game food. I have serious issues during football season. I am worse than many of the guys that I know. In Texas, football is HUGE. Even High School Football. So from friday night until Monday night, I eat sleep and breathe football. And yes, I am a total dork and still go to our High School's football games. Maybe someday I will get a life. the good news is that i don't paint my face.

OH Lord. If I posted my diet for last night and the majority of today...I would be banned. All I can say is I have had my fill and I am ready to start again tomorrow.

My workout Today:
LEGS!
Smith Squats 4 sets 8 (I know I know, but there wasn't a trainer to help me do big girl squats...next week)
Leg Press 4 sets 8
Lunges 3 sets 10-12
SLDLs 4 sets 8
Leg Extensions 3 drop sets...about killed me
Leg Curls 3 sets 10
Standing Calf Raises 4 sets 10
Seated Calf Raises 4 sets 10
I did feel really weak and winded. But this is my first leg workout after surgery. I finally complained to the manager today. I was so pissed, I had to unrack 4 plates on the Smith Machine and the bar was up really high. Then I had to unload 10 yes 10 plates off of the leg press. So that made me feel even more weak. He understood though, and said that next time come find him if I know who left them, or ask a trainer to help me unrack. It's not like they don't have several sitting around on their asses already, why don't they clean up the place and do something.
Nutrition so far but will write what I plan the rest of the evening.
Meal 1 (preworkout) 4 egg whites 1 yolk w/ 1 cup cooked oat bran
Meal 2 (post wo) Protein shake...I know not really a meal
Meal 3 -Chef salad with lots of turkey from Jason's
Meal 4 - 90% lean...huge hamburger patty on the g.f. grill w green beans
I don't think that fitday is accurate on the hamburger patty. It seems the fat is way too high. But this is what it tells me. I really didn't mean to go so low carb.
Total Cals- 1394
Fats- 75 holy crap, i really hope that is not right
Carbs- 45
Protein- 143
I will definitely need to be more balanced tomorrow.

HOLY MOLY, my legs hurt soooo bad today! I think I am just going to power walk around the lake today for cardio. I want to take my first spinning class sometime. I have never done it before, but my gym has such weird times, it's hard to make on one of my 2 cardio days. I definitely couldn't do on my cardio day after leg day.
