    Force = Mass * Acceleration

Fat people confuse force and strength. Haven't you heard the expression 'throwing your weight around' - that's what fat people do, literally.

Correct. However, the context in which "strength" is referred to in this thread leads me to believe that the original poster and others have confused to two. Lifting, for example, is moreso a display of power rather than strength.

    no it isn't.

force = mass X acceleration, how much weight do you lift in the fastest time.

Back when I was in high school, before cutting for the first time, I weighed 285lbs at roughly 25% bf (didn't have it accurately tested at the time, so 25 is merely an educated guess). I never really quite looked my weight, but then again I am 6'4". Sure, I had a giant beer gut and a wide-load ass, but I also had 19" arms which were hard as a rock. I had no definition whatsoever, but my muscles were visible in some places. When I'd finished cutting for the first time, despite people's assertions that my body was "all fat," I managed to achieve visible abs at a bodyweight of 220lbs - without gaining any additional muscle.

The point I'm trying to make is people often tend to assume that just because someone is carrying around a little bit of extra baggage, their physique is all baggage. I was fat, but when compared to the typical 170lb "jock," I still had an additional 50 or so pounds of muscle on him underneath it all. I just never got the credit for it, because my abs weren't visible and my arms weren't covered in bulging veins. It's the illusion that people get from having a low bodyfat. That said, leanness is hardly a good indication of strength, nor is it conducive to it for that matter. Quite the opposite, in fact. Remember, a person who's a little bit "heavy" (not obese) is most likely going to be stronger than a lean, light person just as a result of carrying around all that extra weight. I'm not talking about the typical everyday fatass, but athletes and lifters.
Good point - if I was to cut to 8% body fat and be totally shredded, I'd hit the scales at 202lbs. I got a body fat test done at the doctors, and I have 186lbs of lean mass ((muscle + bone structure) - body fat). Right now I weigh 228lbs at 26% body fat (6'3"). So what everyones saying is they dont give a **** how much I bench now, because I have a beer belly and a fat ass, but if I cut 25lbs people would be impressed, even though my actual muscle mass would stay the exact same. My fats not exactly helping me lift more weight, I bet if i cut down this second I would only lose 5lbs off my bench assuming I diet right and dont lose muscle.

I'm gonna cut soon, but I just finished bulking for hypertrophy and gained a solid 8lbs of muscle and 3lbs of fat over 4 months. I'm shifting to a powerlifting routine for either 8 or 12 weeks after I take this week off because of injury, then I'll do a serious cut for the summer. I just think its retarded that people have the attitude "we dont give a **** what you do, your fat, fat people aren't strong". All it takes is to lose 25lbs and 17 year olds will ask if I'm on steroids

    Lightbulb

I dunno about that. You lose muscle/water cutting from such a high bf(id know i hit 20-22%) 18-19% now. You at 6'3 228 @ 26%, should be 190odd at 12% in a perfect world one where you dont lose lean mass cutting

I agree with what the guy said on the first page. In real life, nobody gives a damn about lb for lb strength. The overall most muscular guy/the overall strongest guy in the gym will always get more respect than the 130 lber who benches 275.

Actually most fatties that frequent the gym are actually pretty strong.

Its the ones that stay on the couch all day watching Judge Judy that cant move much weight.

Think about if all those fat bastards cut down to 8%, lulz.

The thing is, fat people usually are pretty strong. The people I have a problem with are 125lbs teenagers walking around in muscle shirts. They think they're buff just because they have a six pack and their arms are well defined but they aren't actually buff. They're just anorexic so you can see everything. I admit, i'm only 133 pounds and yes i wear muscle shirts, however i don't in public because i don't want people mistaking me for one of those *******s.

To this day, I max out on all the calf machines at my gym, repping about 18 times because I can't increase resistance. They're still huge. When I was dieting to lose fat, I neglected training my quads and basically I lost strength. I'm back up to about 360 on 45 incline with training, hoping to get back to the 450 I used to be able to do.

Upper body strength is questionable. Lower body strength... you better resign.

That ain't nothing to be proud of. And if that ain't bad to ya, there was this one fatceps guy who weighed around 200 lb. and was a weak piece of **** struggling to max on 225 lb. Then he was flexing at some girls (fat ones) and he was bragging about how strong he was. Funny thing is he's a personal trainer and he has **** strength and doesn't know anything about lifting. And the obvious fact that he's out of shape. Yeah you got 17 inch arms punk. Let's see you cut and be proud the 12 inches left.

    Rant over.

They delude themselves into thinking that it's "mostly muscle" and that they only need to cut maybe "10lbs" to get ripped, when in reality they need about 30.

These dudes are very common. In fact, if you're on this site, there's a good chance you are one of them. Have you recently been through a "bulk" in which you've "packed on" 30lbs in four months? The odds are excellent that you're one of these deluded fcvks.
I fall into this category.. and 90% of the time im one of these douchebags.

I admit, i'm only 133 pounds and yes i wear muscle shirts, however i don't in public because i don't want people mistaking me for one of those *******s.

Why the phuck do you think that only "Muscle Guys" have the right to have self confidence? So a few fat guys feel great about themselves and they love the way they look, SO!? And fat is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has the right to prance around feeling good and flexing. Not just people who look like spartans. OKay?
