Why Does Creatine Make Me Pee So Much?

If creatine is supposed to draw water into the muscles then how come I need to pee so often when I take it? Surely I would be peeing 'less' often because of the water retention.

the more water you drink the moreyour going to pee. and if you dont like it tough because if you drink less water youll get kidney stones so get used to the peeing.

Actually, I believe it has to do with the excretory system. Your kidneys filter your blood and requite water to do their job. The more waste you have in your blood, the more water (urine) is required to flush it out of the system. The extra creatine you are taking eventually gets filtered out by your kidneys. And, since you are introducing more "waste" into your blood, more urine is produced to get rid of it.

Creatine doesnt Draw water to muscles, in actuality it draws water toward the Creatine itself. So as the Creatine moves through your body and into your Small intestine water follows it. More water in your small intestines equals more peeing you have to do.

Came here for a scientific answer and got a bunch ******* explanations instead. So I made an account just to comment. I drink 20oz of water with my creatine, and pissed about 4 times in the next 2hrs. It's not because you drink more water if obviously I'm only drinking 20oz haha. I'm sure the original poster figured that out pretty quick too.

Same here. I drink the same amount of water that I normally do but whenever I start taking creatine I have to pee like an old person on Flomax lol

There's no way it's because of drinking extra water. I only drink an extra 250ml of water to consume my creatine, that's assuming it's not just replacing water I would have drank if I wasn't drinking the creatine. I've peed three times in the last two hours and just took it two and half hours ago. Since taking creatine I'm up at least three times a night, without it, I sleep all night. I would have to say it's because of the creatine pulling more water into your small intestine.
