Finding out the weight of a tire
Hi,
Some of my friends are going to a tire shop and picking out tires for tire flipping. Since the shop doesn't have a weighing scale, I'm wondering if there's some way of finding out how much a tire weighs given its brand/model and the tire size parameters? Is there some online resource that has this information?
TIA.

Who knows, but if you have a nearby truckstop or any other place that has a barrel scale, that is a good place to weight heavy items like this.

Google, my friend. Your guess is as good as mine
Edit: and also any manufacturing plant would have a scale. Find someone that works at one and throw that baby on there. I wouldnt go by the manufacturer weight because you dont know what factors are involved on the weight they give you. Where and tear could also deduct weight if its used, so your best bet is to find a plant or a truck stop to weigh it.

WHy do you need to know the weight.
Flip it on the spot, and all you need to know about the weight is 'enough'

Well, just to get a gauge. We've flipped 540lb ones before but it was thicker than the ones he saw at the tire place. It would be great if they had a scale but unfortunately they don't. We're not in the USA so things work a little differently here I guess.

Use the tire finder on that page to get an idea of weight. Keep in mind that if the tire is well-used, the tread worn off can mean it weighs up to a couple hundred pounds less than it did new.
