on the turnpike and the parkway(NJ that is), you can take an envelope and then beep your horn and pay it thru the mail. if they dont get the money within like a week they send you a fine thru the mail thats like 12 bucks.
I'm driving from Florida up to Massachusetts on Friday, and I'm extremely short on cash.
I have about 35 dollars that I'm able to put towards tolls.
I've made the drive before, and I know there are a few 6 and 7 dollar tolls, I just can't remember how many.
What happens if you get to a toll and you don't have the money to pay it?
the only 7 dollar toll you will pay is in NJ on the turnpike, other then that theres a toll in delaware ($6?), going into NY ($6), then you hit another cheap one in NY (<$1), then one or two in mass...shouldnt be more then $25

I remember in Virginia (I think) I got in the wrong lane and not the cash lane - so I had to keep driving. Several weeks later my friend, who rented the car, got the fine from the rental company who got the fine from Virginia.
A couple of years ago, I didn't have any cash (unknowingly) to cross the Mid-Hudson bridge in NY. The dude was like "Do you come through here often?". I was like "Yeah". He told me to just come back next time with an extra dollar for "Mike". Very cool of him. And yes, I did pay the next time through.
