Question here about the origins of steroids
I've never dabbled in steroids but have been pushed towards them many times over the past few years. I know a little about them as far as which one's are popular, how they work (for the most part), etc. However...
Do any of you know when steroids were actually introduced into athletics? I know the Russians and Germans were messing around with them in at least the 1950's, but do any of you have any idea what the actual first steroid made was and when it was introduced? I'm wondering at what point they were introduced into bodybuilding and athletics. I'm guessing the early 1950's but I don't know for sure.
Also, which steroids have the WORST side-effects and which have the LEAST side-effects? I'm an avid trainer and I compete but I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to steroids. I want to educate myself a little.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

I believe they arrived on the scene around the 30's bro. They have been around a good 75 years.

Its not about the side effects in my opinion, its about researching the compounds you want to use and employing them as intelligently as possible.

10 year long boot camps. One "drill instructor" per recruit. Masters of physical fitness and concentrated force.
They had their ups and down. Some downs;
Used to leave new borns 'not worthy of spartan life' on rock ledges for wild animals to eat. Would have homosexual relationships with fellow soldiers. etc.
Interesting group of individuals.
