herbal teas, do they really work?

I am new to the whole herbal healing thing and wanted to ask you guys a few questions if I could. I have read there are teas that help with memory, natural strength, liveliness, energy etc. I was reading that if I were to mix honey and Alfalfa tea it would help promote natural strength. Also, I read that Hydrocotyle Asiatic teas would help me with memory and liveliness. Is any of this true? Basically I am looking to improve my memory, concentration and well being. I am also wanting to increase my natural strength. Is there a tea that helps with bad joints and arthritis? Any information you can provide on what to look for and where to get it would be greatly appreciated. I am currently taking 1 tbsp of cod liver oil with 2 tbsp orange juice to help with arthritis...have you heard of this?

The only herbal teas I use are Chai, either green tea chai or black tea chai. Both are available at Trader Joe's. If you want something with a bit less caffiene, use a green tea. The black chai makes me shake like a dog ****ting razorblades, it's got some serious kick in the speed department!

Bump to what the pretty lady from Fla said too.

I love Chai teas as long as there is no dairy in them. My two favorites atm are a green chai from Long Life Teas and a roobois chai from Uncle Lee. Both are organic and we have a water filtration system at our house, so I always feel as though I am doing something really beneficial for my body when I drink these, lol! I drink them both iced.

Both of those are Uncle Lee's db, I love them, even if I do get the hippy shakes from the black tea. Reps for the person who can tell me the only place that produces a large quantity of tea in the USA. It's not where you'd think.

South Carolina. Wadmalaw Island, to be specific.

Actually, GF, while Uncle Lee makes a green chai, the one I drink is from Long Life. They (Long Life) used to make a chocolate chai which was awesome but has since been discontinued

I also drink Teeccino instead of coffee and it is pretty tasty, too. http://www.teeccino.com/

Thanks for the info, so the green tea i see at walmart is the same thing as alfalfa tea? I am currently taking 2 tblsp OJ with 1 tbpls of cod liver oil, this was said to help with arthritus and joints to. I take it at night, on an empty stomach just before bed. That way it goes directly into the blood stream. Has anyone heard of this? I guess I will get some of the decafinated green tea and heat it up with some honey, maybe popo a few ginko's too! hehehe I need help with my joints and memory, both are shot to heck. hehehe I have seen alfalfa extract for sale, do i just mix that in water and drink? Thanks for any and all tips!

I don't know what alfala tea is but I don't think it's green tea.

The biggie for joints is the glucosamine/chontroitin combo. There's some reasonable research to support its efficacy, too.

Everything you need to know about natural healing and herbs for healing can be found in "Back to Eden" by Jethro Kloss (the man who cured cancer). I have read it cover to cover more than twice.

Language and writing were also made available, the poetry of Khitai, the philosophy of Sung; and he also came to know the pleasures of women, when he was bred to the finest stock.

Well, I think it's safe to say that some teas do make a difference. For example, straight tea (Lipton, for example) will wake your ass up. And, Peppermint tea will relax your stomach when you are feeling cramped.

So I would have to say, yeah; teas can make a difference. A lot of our medicines come from plant sources anyway, so it make sense from that standpoint, as well...

There are all sorts of great things that come from that beautiful state.

My son loves green tea. It gave me the jitters badly last time I tried some, but I may try it again one day. It's supposed to have a lot of health benefits. I opt for decaffeinated teas also. I love chamomile tea. It really does relax me and is a nice tea to drink in the evening. I also have tried peppermint tea and just love the flavor of that tea. You should do a search before you choose particular teas and see what effects their herbal properties are known to elicit.

I've used glucosamine/MSM for my joints for several years -- since I originally injured my rotator cuff -- and I think it helps greatly.

You should be able to buy the alfalfa extract in capsule form, t's not the same as green tea. Green teas are grown in mountainous regions of the world. US green teas are highly sought after as are a few from the orient. Just be careful what you mix and how much of it you do mix, just because it's natural doesn't mean it can't hurt you, these are in fact where drugs came from before pharmaceutical manufacturers came along.

hibiscus, i know what ya mean. i live in South Carolina and there aint nothin like a country girls smile. hehehe But of course I married a girl from Western Samoa, so in my opinion, you cant beat an island girls smile! eheheh

I will check out the alfalfa pills too. Seems to be more to it than I thought. What does green tea do anyway? What are the pros and cons?

I can understand them being harmful until we learned to control them better. Like tobacco, it was origanlly for bruising and to help stop pain, but now is for killing people. Coffee was originally for tanning hyde but now we drink it and it distroys our liver and kidneys.

Feel free to pass along any info on healthy teas (decaffinated) and what they can do to help our bodies and minds. I really need something to help with memory! hehehe what was I saying again?..........

I drink Arizona diet iced green tea sweetened with ginseng and a tiny bit of honey with my meals (yummy, w/ no cals) and hot tea all day long after meals. Regular tea after breakfast gives me a caffeine boost in the a.m. to get my workouts and gets day started. I like green tea in the afternoon after my lunch and mid-day meals and also after dinner.

Seems to work for me to burn fat off in combination with a healthy diet and regular weightifting and cardio. I am at almost my lightest weight ever (153 lbs) but at the same time also more muscular than I have ever been in my life.

Lots of health benefits with tea. Although, I haven't heard of any strength benefit. The WSJ had a good article on tea last week, but you can find similar info here...
