Stiff Leg Deadlifts
Just a question ...
I've been doing SLDL's for a long time .. most recently, I've switched to doing them with DB's. I find that doing them w/ DBs, I get such a better range of motion and such a better workout then with the BB's. I don't go heavy with the stiffies, never have. I usually stay in the 15 - 20 rep range as well.
I was wondering if anyone else did the same thing and if so, did you feel that db's give you a better workout ?

I like to use DB's as well. But when I do SLDL, I keep my knees slightly bent and muscles tight through out the movement.

Question regarding what is considered heavy...on Tuesday I completed three sets of 12 at 90lbs (barbell). I'm flexible enough that I can take the weight all the way to my ankles. Anything lighter and the hamstrings and glutes feel nothing. Is this not an exercise to use with heavier weight?

Its a good question and I think one that there is no real right or wrong answer. I've always found I do better with higher reps for legs. I'll occassionally go heavy, but I like the higher reps more and feel like I make better gains. I go higher reps for all leg exercises, including squats.

Are you using 45's? You probably already thought of it but use 35's or even 25's and get a better range of motion. Otherwise, elevate yourself like someone else said.

I did SLDL's w/DB's over the summer - got up to 45's
Now I started them w/the barbell, just the bar right now. I love this exercise

Duh .. I honestly never did think of that .. I will have to give that I try... so far, I've been liking the DB's but I think this is worth a try. Plus elevating myself !
I'm going to stay away from the swiss ball for now if you guys don't mind
