What is causing this pain???
I was doing barbell shrugs today and felt a pain next to my shoulder blade. I guess it would be between my spine and right shoulder blade. Well, I got home and it started getting worse. It only hurts when I turn my head. When I do this, I get a dull pain from the original point of pain that radiates up my neck. This happens when I turn my head up, down, left, and right. Any ideas??? Tomorrow is leg day, so there will be a lot of weight on my spine while I do squats.

I woke up today in bad shape. What doctor am I supposed to go to if I get it checked out? I don't think a general practitioner can do anything. What about a chiropractor?

Sounds like a pinched nerve of some sort, or strain. I'd go get it checked out. Good luck.

sounds like a strined muscle or ligament. Does motrin help at all? If not, you may need a muscle relaxant to loosen things up. Do you have any numbness or tingling in your arms? If so, hasten yourself to your doc

So many posts on this problem.
Acute wry neck - a locked facet joint in your enck.
Physio / chiro should settle it in 1 or 2 visits.

A GP will most likely just prescribe a pain killer and/or anti-inflammatory meds. Try a chiro or physio. I had what sounds like a similar injury, I was doing barbell shurgs when some called out to me and as I turned my head mid rep I strained my left trap muscle just inside of my shoulder blade. My chiro sorted it out in one visit.

How much would a chiropractor charge for a visit (ballpark)?

I just got home from the gym and I'min pain. Same place but I was doing dumbell curls. Apparently this is a very common injury that is caused by improper form during lifting. I hope my chiro is in tomorrow.

Yeah I've had that. It was just strain from bad form on deadlifts. But it's kept with me forever, acting up now and then, and deadlifts with better form seem to actually help it. Massage does too, but it has to be a really good therapist.

Session three at the chiro today and I feel 99% better. Plus the receptionist is cute so thats also a motivating factor for continuing treatment.
