Any advice on coming off this diet to avoid weight gain? My normal diet consist of a 40/40/20 split between Protein/Carb/Fat. I would like to use this diet for some extra weight loss to reach my goals but want to keep it off for the long run. If taking fiber supplements, do you count these as carbs? Thanks in advance!

ok, so I'm reading the GIANT thread over at MD on the subject and trying to compile a word document of all the pertinent Q&A's, I'll try to post it when I get it done, but I'm only like 50 pages into a 500 page thread! I think there is a full FAQ floating around somewhere on email, so if I'm wasting my time please let me know! This thread really is a great read though, topics skew a lot, but very entertaining.

Not sure if this is a dumb question or not, is there a max to how much LISS cardio can be done while on this? Or could you do like 4 hours a day on an exercise bike and burn of a ton of fat?
Also, would there be any conflicts by using an EC stack while on this type of diet?

yea you can change the meals however you want, don't matter. Seasonings are fine, mustard is fine, no ketchup though, splenda not good, stevia is good, diet soda and crystal light is good.
Hiit is too high of intensity, you need reserve your glcogen for weight training. Cardio should be first thing in the morning and after workout, keep it under 130bpmhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IRl9WnpXkE&fmt=18

The shake consists of just protein, water & the PB? How well does PB mix in a shake with just water and whey powder? Or do you add Ice & Blend?

How does the body get into ketosis on 25 % of your cals coming from carbs?

This is more of an High Protein diet with moderate amounts of fat then a Keto Diet, this is much better then Keto...The contest diet however,it's more similar to keto,it's high protein with moderate to high fat and only 20-30 grams of carbs per day coming only from veggies...

love stevia, watch out for certain brands though, as they're cut with rice maltodextrin. like the one at trader joes and "nustevia." sweetleaf is cut with inulin fiber. don't know about "now stevia." i think stevita is inulin fiber, as well. and there's always the liquid extract.
also, the posibility of making your own stevia exists... hardest thing is finding a stevia plant, but you can extract the leaves and boil them down in water until you make a nice concentrate. haven't tried it myself yet but apparently there's recipes on the internet for how to get it done.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=109800291

Couple Questions
Is the meat measured before or after cooking?
I use Xtend (BCAA supplement) during my workout, why is this not a good idea?
Why no stims?
How about salt intake?
ThanksCrossfit or death..

I believe it is to prevent cortisol spikes. The first post mentions something about it. Cortisol is not something you want around while trying to lose weight. Although, with certain stims (especially non-over-the-counter ones), the positives might outweigh the negatives.
You could do whatever you want in that regard as long as you are adding nothing else. Adding ice would make no difference whatsoever. Just look at it as adding more water.
1. Most bodybuilding diets I've found measure meat after cooking.
2. BCAA are insulinogenic. Many people like them during a workout, but it probably doesn't go well with this type of diet, where you are trying to control insulin spikes and glycogen replenishment.
3. Cortisol control, I believe. See response above.
4. Probably doesn't matter unless you are in active contest prep.*SCC*

I like your approach.. "Many times I'll switch to an alternatiing diet where one day it will be protein/fat......then another protein/vegetables (very little fat). The great thing about the body and fat is that ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS can be stored in the muscle for several days, up to 2 weeks......therefore, once an adequate storehouse of Essential Fats are built up, the body can be "tortured" a little and it still won't give up muscle (that's assuming you're still taking in adequate protein. Protein can't be stored)."
What do you think of this but alternating meals, like 3 P/F meals and 3 P/ Veg meals per day? I would say P/V pre W/o and P/F after?
Guidelines on cheat meal?
Top veggie choices? I'd say spinach because its such a basic food on essentially what is a high acidic diet. But other choices I would guess are broccoli, celery, and green beans..Crossfit or death..

Thanks, man I cannot get over the BCAA thing though, I always thought on a keto diet or low carb diet such as this would be the OPTIMAL time to take a BCAA Supp. I gotta do somemore research or read his FAQ on this subject, because it goes completely against what I've always heard. Do you think this would HARM ones progress by taking this during w/o?
Any recommended stims since you think some are good and some aren't?
Very interested in this thread. Good work on bringing this diet up.Crossfit or death..

What advantages are there with this diet compared to a non-keto diet?
How safe is putting your body into ketosis?
How long should you continue this diet? A short period of time or is it safe to use it for a few months if needed?
