    Military and bench press

    Hello,

I ve been lifting for like 3 months and had a quetion about Military press and Benching.

I work out at my house becuase i dont have a gym near by. I have a full dumbell sett up too 100.
And a full gold's gym. Not each seperate machine but that one big machine that has like evreything.

So i my qeustion is, is doing the military press and benching working out the same muscles or not. Im trying to figure out if i should do them on the same day or differnet ones.

    Thanks
    Dan

damn you beat me to it

Both excercises use the triceps and shoulders, but different days is the way to go

What everyone else said is right. Bench press works chest as a primarily group and shoulders, tris, and bis as secondary groups. I guess it also gets forearms and back to a small degree, but it should mostly affect the chest. Military press gets front and medial deltoids the most, but it also uses chest and the other upper body and core muscles. Of course, if you're using a machine, it might isolate those muscles more and not use all of the stabilizers.

For reference, I do bench on chest/tri day and military press on leg/shoulder day. I have a three day split.

military is used mostly for the shoulders but the triceps help as well

bench press is for the chest and triceps, but the shoulders are also involved.

I don't know about military press, but bench press uses much more tris and shoulders than chest. Chest is like 20% or so.

You're obviously using wrong form then, search how to preform benchpresses correctly and then post again.

Expand your chest as much as possible to decrease deltoid involvement and don't have your grip too close otherwise it becomes more of a tricep workout. Happy hunting
