    Carb load/deplete/sodium/potassium

    I will be competing in my ninth and tenth shows in oct but as you know am continuing to learn about the sport a guy never knows enough about.

    I know everything in the sport comes down to what works for the individual and I have a routine I follow for carbs, sodium and potassium the last couple of weeks but am looking for some new ideas

    Also - I have never stayed on creatine up until the show (considering trying it) what do ya think

    Also - Has any one tried wine to fro vascularity before going on (considering trying it)

    Had a friend who tried wine, said it didn't work for him...but said sipping some jack daniels helped. For vascularity i personally just spray some Hot stuff on, that **** gets my veins showing like crazy. As far as creatine, I stayed on it for my first show and I don't think it affected me. However it might work better, if you stop taking it four weeks out then start loading on it 3 days out. This may place more extracellular water inside your cells.

    I personally deplete all the way up to the day of the show and start a light carb load 8 hours before prejudging and I have a real high carb high fat meal 2 hours before pre judging.

    I KNOW YOU DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU BUT THE LITERATURE I HAVE READ INDICATES IT TAKES 48 HRS OR MORE TO REPLENISH GLYCOGEN STORAGE IN THE MUSCLES.

    I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN IN 3O GRAMS OF COMPLEX CARBS EVERY COUPLE HOURS OR SO DURING THURSDAY AND FRIDAY BEFORE A SAT MORNING CONTEST

    DO YOU THINK I AM OVER DOING? JUST DON'T WANT TO BE FLAT. I HAVE NEVER TRIED IT YOUR WAY BUT I KNOW SOME GUYS DO. WHAT DO YA THINK

    I find that after a couple days of carb loading that i start to hold extracellular water...it may be true that your glycogen stores aren't full my way...but there is less chance that you will hold water this way rather than carb loading for more than a day.

    I load with 250 Kcal/carbs Wed and Thusday. Friday 100kcal. Sat. simple carb in the morning, snack until 1-1.5 hrs before pre-judging then eat a high fat, high carb meal.

    Are you taking in 250 grams of carbs or 250 calories from carbs and what foods are you using to achieve this

    Sorry I meant grams (not kcals). Mainly from low GI carbs Potatoes, yams, oatmeal etc.
