I'll join along. I feel more confident to post this pic. here vs. the pic. gallery.
My main goal is to see what I can do with my abs. I've been working serious on them since August with a clean diet. I've had a couple surgeries on my stomach which has caused my left lower ab muscle to push out from the scar tissue. So that's my biggest goal right now...if I can transform them in spite of that. I'm having fun trying anyway..."You're never complete until you stand where you stand without condition."

New to training seriously
Hi everyone! I'm in my first week of training seriously and love the encouragement of this site! I'm impressed by the physiques of all of you over 40's. I'm 48 and have always wanted the great figure and ripped look and have decided that it's now or never. No pics yet but hope to get them on soon and share my transformation. My biggest struggle will be the clean eating as I'm a total sweet-aholic! So far so good!

Hi Everyone, I'm on my 3rd week of 100% eating clean & training w/JPhillips17.
I've lost 5.5lbs in the last two weeks, since I've been training with him. I've been over weight since Freshman yr, when I gained the "Freshman 15". I am finally going to have the body I should have had in my 20's!
I've tried everything from cabbage soup diets, atkins, south beach, & nothing ever worked for long, as you all know. There's no magic pill, there's nothing but hardwork, eating clean & healthy!! My DH & I are both embracing this new & improved lifestyle! Hub's is down 20lbs & I'm down 27lbs since June of this year.

I would like to compete at least once
Thanks for listening,
RoseanneIf training & eating clean were easy, everyone would be fit & trim.

Is staying in shape harder over 40 ? yes, but do we add to this by over thinking it and creating barriers for ourselves or maybe excuses of why its not working?
What about over 60? this is my inspiration Bernie Cooper, top pro at 62

Looking for advice...new to this thread
Hi Everyone,
I just spent the last little bit reading some of the posts here and thought this might be a place for me to do some posting and get some feedback. My photos are largely from last year...except my profile back shot which is from June of this year.
I have been lifting and working out for years but started really focusing on the diet aspect of my fitness in May/ June of 2007.
I am not interested in competition of any kind so although I eat "clean" 75% of the time, I am not militant. I am however interested in a leaner physique and feel for my effort and diet I should be struggling a little less than I am right now.
So, Last year I was easily able to eat 1750 cals and feel good, as though I had plenty to eat and could maintain or even lose a bit of fat...was at about 18%. Now, I find anything over 1550-1600 and I gain weight while increasing cardio and running miles just to stay small enough to fit into my favorite jeans. I am definitely eating less and gaining. So, I am wondering a couple of things and even had my thyroid checked and it is fine.
1. I had surgery in June and due both to that and an initial drop in gym time and the fact I have been lax about protein intake off and on since then I believe I have lost a good amount of muscle. (though the weights I lift have not dropped..?) So, my macros have not been right at all, though my overall food intake is very healthy, vegetarian, simple and clean.
My other idea is 2. that I am just suffering the effects of age, just turned 40 and there is a normal drop in hormones etc.
My struggle with this idea is everything I read here and elsewhere and all the photos I see of women my age sho it is possible to eat a reasonable amount of food and be lean.
So, I guess I am just asking if any women out there over 35 have noticed a severe drop in metabolism or if this appears in my case to simply be my lax attention to macros.
I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks so much.

If you put in your mind to train, eat right and do your cardio it's easy. Just remember to focus on your goals and take it one day at a time. WE all hit that wall sometimes and think nothing will get better but it actually does. You may not see it right away because it takes time. The time it takes however is worth it !!
