Ready 4 War, initial thoughts

well, I've used it for 2 days now, and I'm not that impressed. I used 1/2 scoop yesterday, 3/4 scoop today, and I dont even really feel the caffeine jolt. I'm about 215 lbs so maybe I need the full scoop, or even more, but it's just not doin much for me. I think my sleep has been ok, but i guess we'll see how it progresses

does it get better as i keep taking it?

I weight about the same as you...and on the first r4w if I remember correctly, I went straight to the full scoop because I usually have a decent tolerance for stims...and when I tested the new r4w I felt that off a half a scoop, but it was obviously more potent when I went up to the full scoop...hopefully you'll feel something off the full scoop.

You stated you didn’t feel the caffeine jolt.....there is no caffeine jolt. If you are a high caffeine type of person then you need to go caffeine free for a while, a couple of days or at least less than 100mg a day for 3 days. It is a performance product, not a "jolt" of energy.

What products were you taking pre-workout before Ready4War? What stimulants do you respond to. Did you stop anything cold turkey when you started ready4war?

edit: Your sig. says:
1.5 cups of oatmeal + 3 scoops Substance WPI, mmmm, now lets go squat

When are you taking this, if its within 1 hour of working out it work against the R4W. You want to take that about 2 hours pre-workout and R4W 20-30 min. pre-workout.

I can verify that if you eat oats an hour before R4W, you will not feel its effects as it will all get soaked up by the oats.

hey Chuck, glad to see you replying here, anywho as for the caffeine jolt, I used to take a 200mg pill before my hs football games, and 1 at halftime, and that got me pretty wired, so I figured the 300mg/scoop here would get me just as good. As for stims before this, I haven't taken anything in a good 6 months I want to say, stimulant wise I mean. I definitely think it MAY be the oats, I eat that about....I want to say about 75-90 minutes pre workout, and drink R4W about 30 minutes before. I'll probably just push the R4W up closer to the workout for now, I like eating at that time cause I don't feel full but my stomach isn't gurgling. I'll keep this updated as I try new timing, thanks for all the input

Steve

well today i tried a bit new timing scheme, I had class til 1 and had to clean my bowls and my g/f was nagging me, (shocking, i know), but I didn't eat my oats/protein until 2 again, but then I took my GB at about 2:25, then drank the R4W at about 2:50 until a little after 3, as the damn bus was full and I had to walk

as for the effects, I felt a bit more focused as I get into my workout and kept up the intensity for about an hour and a half, I used a full scoop today, but I just don't think I'm getting the full effects everybody has raved about

as for water intake, I'm not sure how much I drank before hand, but by the time I got to the rec center my bladder just about exploded, and during my workout I drank around 96 ounces I would guess.

Is there anything else I should look at? just try spreading it out even more? tomorrow I finish class at 11, so I'll be able to get my oats/protein in me at 1:30. Any chance I should go over a scoop? or is it just the oats digesting too slow?

thanks for any insight

Tomorrow take your protein and oats 2 hours pre- Ready4War not 50 min.

Or take the protein without the oats 1 hour before Ready4War and just take the oats around 1pm with 1 scoop of protein.

You really shouldnt take oats withing 1.5 hours of R4W, someone posted that and you did it again.

How about you drop the oats unless you are going to take them 2 hours pre-workout. Oats are not going to give you any "usable" carbs taken 1 hour pre-workout anyway.

I dont like being hungry either but full is a little 2 much esp. on heavy leg day.

I eat 1/2 a turkey and cheese sandwich 1/2 h. pre-workout just enough to make me not hungry until I start working out. Oats is like eating 4 bananas 1 hour pre-workout, yeah you will be full but not 2 much after the bananas will be absorbed 2 well, esp. stimulants.

My Ready4War came in yesterday, and I had a very good workout off 1/2 scoop, and I'll be taking a full scoop preworkout for todays session.

One hour preworkout, I drink my shake - [1 scoop whey, cup 1%milk, 1 banana, 1 serving Peanut Butter.]
I then plan to sip the R4W down on the way to the gym.

My question: Should I cut the PB, Banana, and/or milk out of my shake - does this effect R4W absorbtion?

Its not bad. Except for the taste. Im still looking for the perfect thing to kill the nasty taste of this ****. Its the taste that gives you energy for your workout. The bad taste wakes your ass up. I heard the new formula is better tasting tho

A while back I did some research; it takes about 45 min. to feel the effects of caffeine, anything before that is placebo. This might explain why you are not feeling the jolt. In R4W’s case it’s the other ingredients.

And I agree, grape with cold water is not that bad.

for crying out loud ! your asking for advice but your not listening ! eat no later than 2 hours pre-workout whole food not shakes ideally chicken turkey etc and some carbs take your creatine 1 hour later then take r4w 15 minutes pre-workout it takes only 10-20 minutes before you start feeling the effects and drink alot of water now take the advice or stop asking for it and STFU whinging about how R4W isn't working when your not even following pre-workout protocol and dosing instructions properly from the man who made it and several other people here IDIOT.

are u taking 5.0?

u should be ok taking them 1/2 h apart, but r4w is better for some 30 min + past workout.

I don't think you should go around calling someone an idiot when you don't really know much yourself. Read this.

scenario one: a solid, full-sized balanced meal finished 60-90 minutes preworkout consisting of 30-60g

the timing is what I question he has been consuming oats which are a whole food an hour or less pre-workout in an ideal world as mentioned in the post you so kindly added a link to
a whole food meal 2 hours before they've put 90 minutes there but IMO and many others 2 hours is needed for your stomach to empty enough not to cause nausea or similar effects from heavy lifting such as heavy squats deadlifts or benching then a shake with protein and fast digesting carbs immediately pre/during your workout with creatine if you do so desire as well

secondly alot of supplements need to be taken on an empty stomach if you have oats or another whole food within two hours of training it will simply hinder the absorption of these supplements fact.

Honestly, I have ate something and then maybe 45 minutes later taken supplements that require an empty stomach and haven't had any issues. To each its own so I wasn't knocking you at all for your post I just read differently from the nutrition forum.
