how do you get rid of those bumps?
I've had these little bumps on my thighs that just won't go away!
I shaved my legs dry with a cheap razor and ever since then I've had them. I've let the hair grow on my legs and waxed, scrub...are they ever going to go away? they look so ugly! and to top it I started working out on my arms alot a few months ago and I got acne! now what? it looks so ugly...and is that arm acne going to go away?

Some folks get a viral outbreak that will clear over time. The issue is that we tend to 'pick' the bumps.
One help is to exfolliate with those wonderful gloves you can get at walmart for CHEAP...
Then, apply a good moisturizer.
I used to have them on the backs of my arms and on the outter thighs for the longest time until I learned about proper exfolliation.
good luck to you!

Yup... exfoliate, moisturize, repeat. Also, try Neutogena's acne body wash. It works well not just for acne, but for those bumps too.

Acne is a pain in the arse. I have used every over the counter wash, scrub, toner, scrubber on and on and on. (That includes Proactiv) I have also been prescribed every topical and antibiotic. It takes a lot of trial and error.
In May I did a ton of research, consulted a dermatologist and jumped through a ton of government regulated hoops to obtain a prescription of accutane, which is really dangerous. I can say it was 5 months of mood swings, chapped lips and blood work. I have been off accutane for about a month and a half. I am glad I did it, but I still have gotten a blemish or two.

do women naturally have more acne problems then men hormonally? I don't think I've ever had a pimple or anything in 23 years ... .

I'm 24 ...almost 25 and all the sudden I've gotten acne on my chest that just WONT go away. Its been like 2 months now. I've been using acne cleansers that have that rough stuff in it that wipes away dead skin cells. Still no love! arggh! I THOUGHT it was just from an allergic reaction to metal (touching barbells) but its not

You keep the barbells on your chest much? LOL Just kidding. I didn't get breakouts until I was 25

I was just wondering if there was any other info that you can share about your acutane experience. Sure, I get the little breakouts, and those don't bother me. The problem I have is cystic acne. I've tried a lot of things to narrow down what is causing it and no luck. I get it mainly on the sides of my face or every once in a while elsewhere. I'm actually thinking it's environmental, since I never had the problem before moving to CA. I'd get acne, but not like this
As of right now, the thing that has worked the best for that is The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil line of facial prouducts. Proactive made my skin extremely dry and flaky and the breakouts weren't even phased.

I did not have severe acne, but I had cystic acne as well and had been on prescription meds for years. There are certain eligibility factors that my doctor said would make one qualify for accutane. I think a few were: having had nonresponsive acne (not responding to scripts), having acne that required me to be on meds for a number of years (that was me) and having totally severe scarring acne. After researching accutane and reviewing a workbook (the doctor actually gives you a workbook to read and waivers and releases to sign) I made the decision to give it a try. Accutane is a very serious drug. It is actually almost toxic doses of Vitamin A (as far as I can tell). It was originally created as a type of chemotherapy drug given for some types of skin cancers. It's primary use these days is for severe skin diseases such as acne. There is a government monitored website called ipledge.com or something similar. You have to register with this website and your doctor and pharmacy also have to register. Each month women must have a complete liver panel and blood serum pregnancy test prior to being administered your prescription. It is terribly complicated and you also have to visit your derm everymonth to p/u your script. Then you actually have to show your pharmacy this special card and submit your script within 7 days of it being written. So, it has to be something you really feel strongly about, in order to stay disciplined and within the parameters of "the program". Also, only certain doctors in the US can administer the drug. You must also agree to not give blood or get pregnant within (i think) three months of taking the medication. There is a ton of forums and websites promoting and downing this particular medication.
When I began to take the medicine I went out and bought 12 chapsticks put then in all my jacket pockets and started taking the medicine. It went as smoothly as can be expected. My skin was extremely dry and the only two side effects significant enough to mention were dry dry dry lips and mood swings/grumpyness. My face did have small breakouts during the 5 months I was on it, but after being off since mid October, I can honestly say -FOR ME - that it was worth the risks. Those 5 months were not easy, but worth it. I must say though, that I have spoken to some who think that the side effects may show later in my life, we will see. My skin is better than it has been since I was 15 and today I am glad I took the risk, so for now I will just enjoy the results today. Honestly, that's all we have, isn't it?

Thanks so much for the info Crissy. I not sure I'm ready to try something like that now, but it's possibility down the road if I can't get something to work at some point. I had no idea that so much went into an acutane prescription!

Eucerin is a terrific cream for dry skin (which can cause bumps on the skin around thighs, back of arms). Doctor recommended...
