Question Is training the morning better than in the evening?

Is it better to train in the morning or evening? Is there any advantage to either?

Train at night, eat, go to sleep and recover...

Train in the morning and eat all day.....

Depends on the person. Some people get better results training in the morning, some in the evening, some in the afternoon.

You grow mostly in your sleep, working out tires you, and working out on an empty stomach is a bad idea so I say workout at night and enjoy a good nights sleep

quite true, normally i would eat a complex/protein meal and then sip a simple carb/protein drink while working out and after everything is done, i 'll eat steam fish with white rice.
By 10am in the morning, i have already down three meals, yeah!!

My stomach screams at me first thing or if I work out without having eaten something substantial an hour or two before, I do some basic stretches and pushups, situps in the morning to get rid of that post wakeup stiffness

But I just apreciate the quality of sleep I get from crashing a couple of hours after a workout, I wouldn't give that up for the world.

excellent link. a lot of people have told me that your test levels are highest when you first wake up. maybe true but i know that from my personal experience, lifting in the morning is doing nothing but inviting trouble. i'm still asleep, can't hardly move, and my body doesn't feel "warmed up" yet. i've mostly worked out in the evening and that's what i feel is the best. other people though workout in the morning and do great on that, i'm however, not one of those people. just my opinion

Yeah... in the morning I'm starving and weakened as a result. So I'll eat, but by the time I've reaped the energy from it and feel up to lifting it's already the afternoon. I've found waiting until the afternoon or evening allows you to be fully awake and fueled up to properly hit the weights with a maximum effort.

I think I'm slightly stronger in the evening, but I work 7-4 everyday and after that I just want to go home. So I go at 5 in the morning; also gets rid of the stupid crowds at the small gym i go to. I like having 4-5 other people in the place so I can just get pissed and lift.

I find my ideal time of the day is around ten in the morning, after I've been up for a few hours. I work a 4 on 4 off shift, so I get to train at that time a few days a week. If I'm working an outage (12 hour shifts, 7 days a week), I'll train around 7:30 pm. Although I'm a little tired, it's much better, in my opinion, than training at 4:00 am before work. I've done it both ways, and I just can't get focused in the morning.

The morning is the only way to go for me... The gym is packed most of the time, but NEVER at 06 when I show up. The wife and I roll out of bed around 5:45, throw down a carb-rich whey protein shake with some water and hit the gym. Ok, we get there about 6, crank up some good music and get a good stretch going to warm up (by this point we have been awake about 1/2hour and the shake is doing its work... ENERGY.

Booom..... Hit the weights hard for an hour to an hour ... post workout whey protein shake... Head for home... grab a shower...

Put the oatmeal on the stove, shower up... ,now I am really feeling alive,
and sit down to devour some good oatmeal and a bunch of eggs with some turkey pastrami (better than bacon & 95% fat free.)

Get to work..... EAT ALL DAY LONG every 3 hours... Go to bed at 10 after a casien rich protein shake! I love it!

I recently switched from 5pm workouts to 6am workouts... I found my "usual" weights hard at first because I couldn't wake up... cardio was better though because I felt fresher... I hadn't been on my feet all day.

I think altering your eating & sleeping habits has a lot to do with it.

The human body just gets used to whatever situation you put it in... I would guess your nervous system would respond eventually.

That is what my wife and I prefer, however, since we have jobs.........

I wake up at 5 am so I can eat and have a chance for the food to digest by the time I get to the gym at 6:30am. If I wait until after work I'm too beat and I don't want to do anything.

For sure! Arent Test and GH levels more likely to be higher in the mornings? I think i have heard that. Once you get used to going to bed early and getting up early, your workouts will be better in the morning than at night. You are so fresh first thing, havent done anything else but slept for the last 8 hours. You should be able to lift like a mad man. Not to mention, after your intense W/O your body is hungry, and all day when you eat, those muscles are just using every bit of energy you give them, and your metabolism will be high through out the day so if your cutting, its a really good idea.

It is personal preference. Train when you feel the most energized. Nobody can tell you otherwise.

No strength in the morning. In fact, I have more strength in the evening than the afternoon.
