I don't know much about aircraft anymore, but when I was a kid and was into it, I used to like the F-111 Aardvark. Neat looking plane.

5 years of working out and 50 more to go.

    Cool

    F-22 Raptor
Performance is so far ahead of any other jet in the world, it's just not fair to the other guys. In flight tests, one Raptor took on 5 F-15E Eagles, and he "killed" them all before they even got a visual of the Raptor.

I'm looking forward to seeing the F-35 roll off the assembly line eventhough it won't be for a while. And the best part, Canada will be getting some, as will Australia and several other countries.

If you guys don't know much about it here's a link. Quite possibly the last manned fighter jet that will ever be produced.

Yeah me too. It looks meaner and more intimidating.

I'm just glad Canada has decided to invest in another decent fighter. Hopefully they will be in service by the time i'm at that stage in the air force because there are only so many f-18's to go around.

That's an awesome plane. They used to call them "Puff The Magic Dragon" in Vietnam, because they would "breathe fire' down onto the enemy. My Uncle told me that hearing "Puff" coming over the hill was the best sound he'd ever heard. He said that when they opened fire, a 300ft. swath of jungle just disintegrated.

    SR-71 Blackbird

A prototype was built in the late 50's and they made the SR-71 in the mid-1960's.. It was the fastest plane up until a few years ago..The fuel circles around the plane and is used as coolant for the extreme heat when it hits Mach 3+..Its just incredible that something built 40 years ago, STILL can out speed some of todays planes..

You have to tell why it's impressive? It's a spy plane, built and designed during the Cold war, to fly too fast and high for enemy to target. Fuel is stored in the body and it leaks badly because the skin doesn't seal itself until it reaches operating temperature (it has to be refueled shortly after take off; and it costs $1,000,000 for each mission. No weapons

It is the fastest and baddest of the piston powered single engine fighter aircraft of WWII. It sounds awesome and it snarls at you on a fly-by! It just ROCKS!

Not true. It was to be retired before the Gulf War but have remained in service. Unless things have changed in the last year but we used to share the flightline on Bagram with these badasses.
