what's your opinion on milk in a keto diet?
OK I have a problem: I wan't to give this Keto diet a try after all the great (and despite some of the neg.) things that I've read about it...that and I'm desperate to stop being a fatty and actually get some of this muscle I've developed to show through for a change! haha
BUT I LOVE MILK! Skim, non-fat milk, but still, it has 12g of carbs in it. I drink this stuff like I drink water and its not unheard of in my family for us to go through 3 1gallon jugs in a week...and only me and my parents (in their coffee) drink it, bro is lactose intol.
is milk and other dairy (cottage cheese) ok for a keto? or do you still want to consider that for your total carb intake. I've been tracking carb intake on FitDay.

No milk. It has sugars in it.
There are no negatives to Keto if you do it properly.
This is how we should be eating.

Milk would take up too much of your daily carb quota, it wouldnt work. PWO with milk in your shake if you count the carbs in the milk as part of it you should be ok, but im not sure if this would be as effective as dextrose on this diet.

I don't see what's wrong with a little bit if you keep it under control.
I have some almond milk with 7g of carbs that I drink every now and then. Maybe if you want to sneak in more milk but with less carbs, try that. It's a pretty good substitute.

On keto, you won't be eating oatmeal or cereals, so you'll have less opportunity to drink milk. If you take some in tea or coffee, you might be able to continue if the amounts are very small.
Why not dilute some heavy cream and use that instead?
Hard cheeses are perfect on keto, cottage cheese is ok in smaller amounts. Cream is excellent.
65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

Try Hood's Calorie Countdown. It has 3g of carbs and 8g of protein per 8 oz. I don't know what they do to remove the sugar, but they do add an artificial sweetener. I use this "milk" now. It does taste like milk, but they have to call it a milk beverage or dairy beverage, not "milk".

Eileen,
A question if I may. How many lbs. of fat/percentage of fat have you lost while on keto?
You seem to be a bit liberal when it comes to it.

No cardio No cry
Use half and half, not milk.
A couple shotglasses full of heavy creamer should fill your milk-void.

Abotu 45lb, I think. I lost a lot of weight when I started keto years ago, and I'm now maintaining. Well, sort of, I still want to get more muscular and cut, but any change now is in tiny amounts.
However, I have a family to feed, and have to do it on a budget, so I'm used to tweaking the diet to suit circumstances.

Nice.
I have personally lost close to 55-60 lbs. myself and can push my boundaries in terms of carb consumption.
However, IMHO, I think beginners should stick to as close to zero carbs as possible during the first 2-4 weeks and venture further later on. The suffering one has to endure during the first couple of weeks is well worth it.

Actually from Sparta
I like that hood brand. There use to be a carb count milk but I can't find it anymore. Now I just use it for my protein shakes.
May all our voices whisper to you from the ageless stones, "Go tell the Spartans, passerby, that here by Spartan law, we lie."
