Tips to lower Glycemic Index

If you ever have no choice but to eat a high gi food, here are some tips to minimize that raise in blood sugar:

- Include vegetables
- Add Nuts
- Have a fruit for desert or a low fat yogurt
- Add fibrous carbs such as Beans
- Add vinegar or lemon
- Cook with olive oil

In short, you can lower the glycemic index of high GI food by including lower GI ones. Fibers (Nuts, Vegies, Fruits), fats (Fish Oil, Olive Oil, Nuts), and food acids (vinegar) will reduce GI effects. This is pretty important for me, since I always eat white rice for diner, wanted to share it with you guys

Protein helps as well, although you should have that with every meal.

Good post.

I think the better option is to eat a low GI rice along with the rest of your balanced meal. Why must you choose a high GI white rice?
