Dell Inspiron 1521:

2.2GHz AMD Turion? 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-64
1GB Memory (2GB from Crucial costs $55.99)
120GB Hard Drive

Why do people spend an extra $1100 for the exact same hardware? I'm not trying to be biased...I just know so many people who swear by Apple computers and I don't really understand why. The one reason I always hear is that Macs have fewer viruses but I use XP on a Dell with a free antivirus program and have never had a single problem.
Am I missing something?

Why would anyone buy a Mac instead of a PC?

if its a notebook who cares. if I wanted a desktop I would build an intel quad core. but for a portable I love my macbook pro. Operating system doesn't even need a key and I can restore all or parts of it from back up which it does automatically for me. programs work together in a way that is just nice, and using automator to macro pretty much anything I need done in the operating system from organizing porn to adding MP3s after I torrent them to itunes then deleting original files (b/c it copies them to itunes).
I love it, but yes the hardware itself may be overpriced. The macbooks are still a steal in my opinion though.
