How strong was Arnold?

He claimed a bench of like 440 for 6-8 reps which with those long arms that is crazy. I've only seen him squat like 500 for reps which isn't bad and I don't think he deadlifted much if any. Franco did more of that.

keep in mind arnold was a bodybuilder so lifts werent really that important.

He was very strong for a bb-er, probably could have benched around 500. I think he did powerlifting before bb-ing, so that probably helped his base strength. I think Franco Columbo was even stronger.

You are correct on all counts Mr. Beer.

I know Arnold bench pressed 440 and deadlifted 600, but as far as his squat goes I'm in the dark.

In an old muscle and fitness mag or w/e. It has all the Mr. Olympias and talked about their best body parts adn what they did for them and stuff. Arnold's was chest and he said he benched 315 lbs for 25 reps. And his max was 500 lbs he said.

I have read that he benched 500, DL'ed around 700, and squatted well over 400 for reps (barefoot!). I kinow the squat and bench is real but I have never seen any footage of him deadlifting.

Franco Columbo was a powerlifter until Arnold took him into the world of bodybuilding

Arnold was definitely a weak squatter, but his bench and deadlift were ok.
I remember reading that Arnold's personal best bench was a record of 236 kilos, which is 519.2 lbs - close to the 500 lbs mentioned.
In fact I believe his deadlift was higher than 600, more like 700 (318 kilos).
I have no idea how he was on all other exercises though.

arnold did powerlifting and explosive lifting mixed with bodybuilding. He said he picked a bodypart each week to just go heavy on and sometimes did "ballistic training" where youd do the reps as fast as possible and failure was when you started to slow.

Ah-nuld, Ah-nuld and MORE Ah-nuld!!!
Ask Joe Weider. He seems to have a stock of 10,000+ photos of Ah-nuld doing all sorts of things (and he uses them in his publications constantly!).

well he's doing 445 ass to grass squats for reps, and since he's a bb I'm guesin he's doing a lot of reps, so I'd say he can squat 500+, duno how much that dealift is tho

arnold
yes ye repped out 405 pounds in the bench many times so 500 is very plausible . he dead lifted cloase to 700 once in 1968 . we have pic of this . the bes lifts of sergio oliva would be interesting too .arnold with such biceps could curl heavy too . presses was average .
