Working Abs Everyday
Should abs be included in every workout? Can they be worked everyday?
Just wondering

they sure can, but should they? Nope, if you you do enough other compound exercises. Abs are just like any other muscle in the body - needs rest to grow. After you get the desired size of the abs keep it up by working them 2-3 times a week.

Thank you, I figured they needed time to rest just as any other muscle. But what do you mean by "other compound exercises"?
Thanks again

A compound exercise is one that involves more than one muscle - the standing press is a good example, involving the major muscles of the shoulder girdle and the upper arms, the trapezoids, the deltoids, the upper (minor) pectorals, and the triceps; the bench press is a bad example - although it too involves several muscles, the deltoids, the triceps, and the pectorals.
Squat is one of the compound exercises for the lower body. I'd do a search on 'compound exercises' on bb.com
Good luck!

iNat, do you think you get enough results out of compounds to see definition. I do compounds several times a week, and not much definition. Just curious.

Definition is diet for the most part, not frequency of training.
I like to alternate abs and calves after training, and I do weighted ab movements. I never do weighted oblique training.

crissygirl, you won't get good definition from compound exercises. Compound ones mostly done for overall balance and strength. To define each muscle group you gotta do isolation exercises (like Arnold says in his Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding). And even then your BF has to be low to show it all off

And it shows in your pic. I don't do any weighted oblique exercises either.
