oooH thats a tough one there... its a lot more difficult that way-but i know, no convincing him otherwise...
Whey Protein(I Think), Soya, lentils, Tofu, Veggie Burgers, Tempeh, Seitan, Texturised Vegetable Protein...there are also a large range of 'Linda Mccartney' and other products that make meat free meals...but kinda pricey...

the things that i find kind of yummy from that list are soya and veggie burgers...

if he gets bored of soya everyday-then remember-you can gett soya mince, soya chunks and loads of other weird shapes that could make things more exiting

Given this, he should be fine (i.e. alive) with the trace amounts of protein that he picks up from foods that we would consider primarily carb or fat sources.

Vegan Options for Protein

Beans
Legumes
Tofu
Tempeh
Seitan
Quinoa
Protein Powder (Pea or soy - don't use rice)
Soy products - cheese, yogurt, milk, etc.
Meat analogs - Morningstar farms, Boca, Quorn, etc. (you have to check as some also include non-vegan ingredients. There is a vegan Boce Burger, for instance, and also just vegetarian Boca Burgers)

Also, veggies are surprisingly high in protein, i.e., protein as a percentage of total calories. He'll have to eat a lot of them, though!

Very High Quality Protein

Try SPIRULINA. It's a micro-algae, single cell ameoba and has been around for billions of yrs. It is high assimilated into the body and is an excellent source of chlorophyll, Beta Carotene, Iron and a vast of other micronutrients.

The best place i've found for it with no binders and fillers and it's really cheap compared to retail ****

www.phporder.com/jack

p.s. I am a vegetarian, i woulda been a vegan but i need that whey protein and the casein to grow

Thank you very much for the information and advice in this post. However, out of curiosity, why did you say “no rice” regarding protein sources?

I like the Nutribiotic Rice Protein. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks!!!

Don't forget that all grains, nuts, etc are incomplete protein sources. So try to eat them in combination with other foods (peanut butter sandwich: you got the bread and the peanuts).

I am a vegan and I get all of my protein from the sources below.

Hemp powder sweetend with stevia powder and sometimes a banana
Rice powder
Bee pollen
Hemp bread sprouted
mana bread sprouted
Sprouted cereal
raw nuts and seeds

Stay away from soy products they are usually (GMO)
Your body will digest all of these products as a complete protein with all 9 amino acids

^ ^ ^

bee pollen is not vegan ^ ^ ^

bodybuilding.com has vegan protein powder for sale
kidney, black & soy beans as well as lentils are high in protein
nuts and seeds, many vegan products in your grocery store have protein
if he is 127lbs he only needs 46 grams of protein, especially if he is not working out.

he could get that in 1 cup of beans, and 3 glasses of chocolate soy milk.
his body doesnt need that much protein
