Good High school Recruiting tool!
I would suggest to anyone looking to play at a D1 or D1AA school to have someone develop a website for them. When I had a agent he had a marketing company make a site for me and it was a big thing. When in high school you dont have to have a flashy website just something simple that has your name, stats and Highlights. It makes things easier also for the college coaches to check you out.
-
Hey You Guuuys!!!
I had one during recruiting that I sent off to 100+ colleges, and they actually dont look at it. As long as you have a piece of paper showing them your stats with your highlight tape, they will look at it.

"As long as you have a piece of paper showing them your stats with your highlight tape, they will look at it" You must be serious. You must be talking about D2 And D3 Schools. Most top schools get alot of bio's and tapes and they go straight in the garbage. I would think I know what Im talking about considering my Official Visits were USC, Oklahoma, Penn st, Boston College and Wisconsin and yours will be ??? Mt union, St mary's of the blind who else. I was basically stating that A site is just another tool to get exposure. Dont send tapes and bios to D1 colleges if they dont know you because most likely noone will ever see them.

College coaches don't have time to look at everyones websites. They won't go looking you up online, and waisting their time.

So.....
How many Big 10, Pac 10 or Big 12 coaches have you talked to? Have you ever been in the Recruiting room and saw any of the school's recruiting boards? What is your experince in this field? Everyone is so quick to say something but what is your background? Im not saying making a website and calling coaches and telling them to look at it there's more to it. Ive gone thru the recruiting Process twice in high school and Junior college So Ive seen a few things in my day. When I was in the NFL draft I had a website and Most NFL scouts when on that site to get contact info also some stats etc. Are you telling me they dont have time? Haha wake up

Exnfl, you seem awfly defensive and quickly irratable. If you make a thread, often times people will have opposing views.
Are they wrong? Probably. But relax on it a bit.

There is a high school freshman fball player I want to help out in his training. So far he is mostly self taught and does a lot of stuff wrong, lol. But he has built a good bod and good basic strength levels.
He is still 15, has squatted around 450 (high squats though)...has benched right at 300.
He wants to play fullback for varsity next year and is pretty sure he will start. I think he currently weighs 183ish with pretty low bodyfat.
I was discussing this very thing to him...telling him he needs to actively work on his vertical and his power clean etc because those are things recruiters look at just like acedemic recruiters look at SAT/GRE scores etc.
So what kind of stats are we mainly talking about here?
bench
squat
40 times
power cleans? what kind of numbers?
vertical jump?
standing broad jump? or is that more for b-ballers?
what else?

Respected on these boards does not mean that you know what you're talking about when it comes to being recruited to major universities for football. Would everyone PLEASE stop licking Fullback's nuts. Yes, he is helpful on the boards but right now ExNFL is trying to give some high school prospects some help and Fullback comes and craps all over it.
In conclusion, can a website be helpful in recruiting, damn right it can. Will it automatically get you recruited to wherever you want to go, hell no it can't.
I was also pretty well recruited, not as much as ExNFL, but I know the process as well.

First of all, get him squatting right. A lot of high school programs cheat on their squat to get the numbers inflated for recruiters. In the end, the lifting strengths are a small portion of what the recruiters want anyways. All major colleges have an EXTREMELY well run lifting program and athletes make huge strides every year. The biggest things you will want to work on are weight, if you can get him to 205-215 with low bodyfat, he will get a lot more attention. Also, work on his 40 yard dash and 20 yard shuttle. The faster the time the better obviously. If you can get his 40 to a LEGIT handtimed (since most people don't have laser time) 4.5-4.6 at 200-210 he will get some attention. Try to get his 20 yard shuttle time to 4.3-4.5 will also help. If you want to run him in the 3 cone drills you can. Would could put films up of him running the drills, lifting the weights, his best gamefilm and some highlights all on the page and you would have yourself a DAMN good page that would probably get some attention for the kid. Also get the kid thinking about playing Inside or Outside Linebacker as well. Coaches love players that play both ways. I would also include his GPA and SAT/ACT scores if he has them (as young as he is he probably doesn't).

Dude make sure his academics are good because apparently coaches wont even take a elimpse at you if your grades are bad because they will want a player that wont drop at of college and that can actually keep up with the work effort.

Texas A&M, Tech, Hawaii, Syracuse, WSU, Mizz, Miami, Houston, and TCU. Those were my official visits @ the D-1 level. Ive had coaches such as ART Briles come down to my house and eat a BBQ sandwhich and piss in my toilet... So no need to have a pissing match with you. I have no need to get in a pissing match with you like a little kid. Or a 25+ year old ex nfl kid.
I sent tapes and websites to over 100 D-1 schools. I have also spent countless hours researching the recruiting process. Im sure your intentions meant well, but dont act like an ass when I throw something out. D1 colleges dont look at a website and then say... O Hell this guy can play look at those stats. A full game tape is what they care about most. Only D2 and under look at "garbage", such as websites. I would think that someone that is supposedly highly decorated as yourself would know the basics.
As for the above posters, everyone has an own opinion, and im not trying to discard it. Im just throwing out to yall what works and what doesnt work. I had a website for sportstoschool.com as well as one I personally made up. I personally from coaches at the DI,DII,DIII, & NAIA schools on which ones looked at my website. Big schools dont want to look at something that isnt right in front of there face because they dont want to take the time to look at it. Like I said though everyone has an opinion.

And someone who was recruited as heavily as you would also know the rules.
A recruit can visit a college campus, either officially or unofficially, during the recruiting process. An official visit is paid for by the interested school and consists of transportation to and from the college, room and meals during the visit, and reasonable entertainment expenses such as a home athletics contest for the recruit and his or her parents. Before an official visit can take place, the recruit must provide a copy of their high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. The recruit is limited to five official visits, which can take place during the contact, evaluation, or quiet periods. An unofficial visit is paid for by the recruit and their family, except for complimentary admissions to a home athletics contest the school may provide. The recruit can talk to the coaches on any unofficial visit except during the dead period. A recruit can take as many unofficial visits as desired.

Yes, no one is, but Fullback did bring up his EIGHT official visits when a recruit is only allowed FIVE. Just trying to show you all that Fullback might not be the know all be all when it comes to the recruiting process and that a few other people who have also been there can provide good insight on this as well. Your golden child isn't flawless in his knowledge on this subject.
I took this excerpt from a webpage, but I'll post the actual excerpt from the NCAA handbook.
Article 13, Bylaw 6.2.2
13.6.2.2 Number of Official Visits?Prospect Limitation. A prospect may take a maximum of five
expense-paid visits, with no more than one permitted to any single institution. This restriction
applies regardless of the number of sports in which the prospect is involved and only for expense
paid visits to Divisions I or II institutions. (Revised: 1/12/04)

Hey You Guuuys!!!
I believe he is claiming that I am Bull ****ting with him, because I took more than 5 visits. Even though I flew myself to Mizz & Hawaii. As well as drove to Lubbock.
He is going to call me a liar no matter what I say, because I dont have any proof. All I have is letters. Its all cool though. No worries.

Congratulations on the letters, I had a letter from damn near every D1 University in the US. Receiving letters means nothing, we have players at the high school I coach at that have stacks upon stacks of letters and these schools have no intentions of ever bringing them to campus or offering them a scholarship. The coaches and programs have to kiss a little ass from time to time, in case a school does in fact produce a very good prospect so they are already 1 up on the rest of the field.
Now, flying yourself to Mizz and Hawaii as well as driving yourself to Lubbock, those would be unofficial visits, not official.

i belive the only reason fullback didnt play was because of grades, correct me if im wrong also name calling and being a prick solves nothing. it makes me happy that im 16 and yet im not sitting here being a prick name calling, also working your ass off for somthing and getting it means alot more aka when fullback reaches division 1 again it will mean more coz he worked alot harder for it, but thats my opinion

Hey You Guuuys!!!
Why the **** do you think you can call people out? Because you were cut from an NFL practice squad after your 2 years? Your no player. Just a washed up wanna be, who likes to brag about what he once did. At least the people on here are working for something with whatever talent they have. You... seem like nothing but a guy with a big ass ego, who thinks and wishes he was the ****. One of those guys who would cringe at the **** some of us have gone through. Next time you wanna brag about what you used to be. Try doing it in an NFL game. If that is where you are supposed to belong. Not talking **** on the virtual grid iron known as bb.com. Like I said your intentions were good then you blew this **** up because I threw down an opinion.. An opinion is all it was.. Not a fact, buddy.
And Im sure that mr. critical and precise, will have a statement about my D-1 comment in my sig.
