Im on 2 40 mg pills a day, my acne has cleared up alot, except on my back, I recently started using multivitamins for a week and I tihnk my acne started to come back again on my chest, but now im going to stop the multivitamins and see what happens. If so then I have to go buy some vitamins without vitamin A.

10 pills down so far, definately feeling the sunburn-like effect on my face. Acne has gotten worse since I started but it doesn't really concern me. Face is almost perfect but back and chest aren't very pretty. Dry lips are there but not as bad as I expected. I've been doing 14+ hour days outside in the cold and my face seems extremely sensitive to it.

3 weeks of 40mg daily and my back and chest are pretty bad. My face is perfectly clear but dry and red. Only side effects I've noticed so far is the dryness of my skin (face, lips, random patches of dryness on my arms, legs and lower back).
For anyone who has completed a round of accutane, how long until all these side effects dissappear after you stop taking it? Will I be able to tan as soon as I'm off Accutane?

lol no it does not make you depressed
the people that kill themselves while on it were messed up in the first place.
I feel great
My only sides so far have been dry lips and lately dry skin on my arm. Other than that it's a great med.
And yea you can drink...just dont get hammered drunk every night lol
but on the weekends is fine lolThe Truth Is Out There

I've been on Accutane for 2 months now, 40mg for the first month, and right now on 40mg twice a day.
Don't use any type of regime thats going to leave your skin dry.. accutane dries it out SIGNIFICANTLY. I havent cleaned my face ONCE since i've been on accutane (except in shower and water going down face, etc).
And for the last month, I've had no pimples or breakouts.. first time in the 10 years I've had acne!
I'd recommend Lubriderm or Aveeno for moisturizer for the face, or cetaphil, and for chapped lips, honestly Carmex has been a life saver. It actually soaks into the lips and helps, unlike most other chap sticks that just coat over the lips with wax.
Just use carmex, you'll be glad you did.. But keep one with you always.. I use it at least 10+ times a day.
I did notice my joints sore the first week.. but that went away (thank God), and dry skin has been the only other bad thing.
I still drink, take supplements (despite being told not too) and got my liver results back from the first month and I was perfectly fine, in fact from working out some of the tests went down (from the initial blood work before accutane).
Just watch out when drinking.. 1 jack and coke gets me buzzing, its nice being a cheap lightweight now.
Congrats, the stuff is a wonder drug!

To the OP the drug is a godsend, for people, for me unfortunaly has caused a host of problems, i have lost hair, rashes on my arms and hands and even my chest and neck, and finally hit my face. Depression set in, even though logically i have NOTHING to be depressed about.
Within 2 weeks of being off it everything returned to normal even the acne. I am now and i HIGHLY suggest you try it, Doxycycline 1 tablet a day, no side effects at all i think the worst side effect is vomiting, acne is completely gone complexion is not white anymore.
AND its dam cheap!
Takes 2-5 weeks to work, quicker then accutane.
O and NEVER take ZMA.
EDIT: It also cures clamidia lolLast edited by MATT2388; 03-09-2008 at 01:08 PM.
To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.

So now I've been on this stuff for three days, and wow, this is rough ****. When not moisturized, my face look like one single snowflake. Big mistake to use a (mild, mind you) face wash morning+night, but meh, I'll survive. Lips aren't chapped yet.
My acne is moderate-severe, I'll post some before/after pics if I remember to in a while.

Any before and after pics of this?
I'm going to a derm soon in around 3 weeks, and in England I've heard its EXTREMELY hard to get accutane. like that guy above who said he went in, and out with a accutane slip in under 3 mins, that will never happen over here.
What can I say to to derm to make him give me it? Should i just say it's affecting my confidence really bad and I cant concentrate in school and I feel down and depressed in life? What if this back fires and he says "dude, you need some serious help, go to a psychiatrist or something, here's the number" ??

Man that sucks man im sorry...Sometimes if i scratch my arm a small rash occures for a bout 5 minutes but that is it.
Also I was on Doxycycline/everything before I was on the accutane and it did not help at all lol..I'm like immune to all acne meds except the accutane.
But I honestly believe that those who killed themselves while on accutane were previously suffering from some sort of depression before the meds
after all acne is a depressing thing, and that multiplied with life is sometimes sever enough to cause someone to kill themselves.
I had some up but some troll decided to fuk with me cuz of the acne so i took them down.
And just tell the doc that you dont wanna mess around you want to get on accutane, if he says no then just go to a different doc
thats what i did and it worked out fine..some dont want to prescribe it because if someone dies while on it they will get blamed for it and it will go on their record.Last edited by USAviator; 03-10-2008 at 03:59 PM.
