hammer strength dead lifts
As an old guy with many injuries my full rom is limited. Still strong but unable to do standard dead lifts. I try to do hammer strenth deads at around 425 for three sets of six reps. Is this comparable to rack deads?

picture of the machine? if it emulates the movement of a rack dead then yes it would be comparable.

i like HS as well, i love almost all of their machines but i do stay away from a few of them, in favor of freeweight exercises. the only thing that sucks about them is that they are easy to cheat with, which isnt a problem for me, but seems to be a big issue for alot of the people i see using them.

Yeah cheating is not a problem at my age (I only wud cheat myself) I use the dip machine, hi row mid row low row and bench press. I still go heavy so
it allows me that good feeling u obviously have. Great journal and squat vid.

thx alot. yeah if you want to go heavy and not worry too much about other factors then HS is the way to go IMO.

Just started doing this and IMO are a great alternative , maybe not as good a compound exercise but hits the lower back superbly. I started these as i was sick of injuring my back(yes, crappy form!!)
100th post and only one "x2"!! lol

I've seen a couple of the competitive bodybuilders at my gym use the hammer shrug for deads, so I don't see why not. It approximates a trap bar rack dead.
If you want more of a traditional trap bar dead feel, place a short box or even a couple forty-fives on the floor and stand on those when performing these.
