Lat spread deadlift
I was wondering if anyone has tried doing a deadlift with their lats spread as far as possible like Milos suggests in the fitshow. and if so, is it effective?
heres the link if anyone hasnt seen it.

I ended my last back workout with them and loved them. Just focus on keeping your lats spread throughout the movement. You will definately have to drop the wieght down compared to a normal deadlift. You will feel it in your outer lats on your first rep.

I wouldn't go any heavier than 225 on those. They seem sweet, but they may make your middle back a bit more vulnerable, so look out.

I definately agree. I normally deadlift with about 405lbs. + and found these very effective at only 155lbs.

Good post guys, I usually will Power Rack Deadlift 450 for 10 and I plan on trying the Lat Spread version tomorrow in the power rack. Would you guys recommend me doing 3-4 normal sets and then burning out with the lat spread DL's for another 2 sets at the end at maybe 225? I am excited to try these out

I would maybe drop the weight a little more and do a few high rep sets to failure just to fully engorge the outer lats with blood. I feel these are less about strengthening the lats and more to pump them up to possible increase their volume.

bro I'd do them first, defaintly wouldn't treat them as a back-off set, try them as your main movement one workout, if you like go with it for 4 weeks then see

I don't understand. You're basically just flexing your lats when you do deadlifts? That's inevitable no matter what. If I'm wrong can someone descibe with detai please?

I performed 3 sets of Lat Spread DL's after 4 sets of Half-Rack DL's and man were they hard. I was just going to failure @ 135lbs, I could really feel the stress on my outer lats, time to get wide

be careful with that though, if you decide to go heavy remember, you have to get further down on the bar and you are pulling the bar a lot more distance wise. so that means more of a risk of pulling your back out, i definately wouldnt suggest doing these heavy, do them light and at a good pace. treat them like speed deads

No, I was just kidding. I learned my lesson a couple years ago when I met my wife. She put me straight real quick.

That was a classic example of flying by the seat of your pants. It was like he filled in for someone else at the last minute and had no script. One minute he's talking about oatmeal, then eggs, and then washing up... and then it was over

I tried these last night, while doing stiff leg deadlifts. They felt really good. Had to lighten up quite a bit, but they gave me a good stretch in my lats, as well as the added benefit stifflegs give your hammies and lower back.
