    Wrestling...

I've asked friends about wrestling and I hear its really tough in training and **** and I'm all about that stuff I love it. I'm a freshmen at South Lakes High School in VA, I'm 6'0 165 lbs been working out for a little more than a year now. I love baseball too though and I want to know if I start wrestling and **** and doing that training is it going to improve my baseball game or hurt me somehow by doing exercises that won't benefit me in baseball? and as a freshmen is 6'0 165 lbs good for wrestling? Someone said I would be wrestling sophomores since I weigh a good amount...well anyway thanks in advance

Read the thread "Most demanding sport"

And yes, it's a tough sport. I also play baseball, and although I don't think it really improves my game, it also doesn't hurt it at all.

6' 165, that'd be a good weight I guess. It doesn't matter in wrestling though, cuz you have weightclasses. And also, since this is your first year, you're going to suck. Just stick with it, and next year, or even half way through this year, it will come to you easier.

about cutting weight, my brother said I can't run to lose fat because it will build leg muscle and I won't lose weight, so I would have to not eat or something. I've heard of people not eating for a while to drop some lbs but that can't be good for my working out at all. If I do have to cut weight do you have any suggestions on what to do?

You're bro has no clue what he's talking about. Not eating will not do jack about weight cutting. Working hard at practice, and eating healthy will help you lose the pounds. Running helps as well. Weighing 165 right now, you should easily be able to lose 5 and go 160 for the season, just at practice.

you can run to lose weight it will not build ur legs up so much that u wont lose weight. Smitty ur rite bout the the not eating wont make u lose pounds if ur on a normal diet but most of the time during wrestling if ur cutting a lot of weight u usally weight out the nite before rite below ur weight that u have to be then u dont end up eating till the next day after weigh ins. I mean after ur practice u usally go and have a lil drink and lil sumtin to eat then pick on sum popcorn cuz u can eat a lot of it with out it puttin ne weight on and then ur will float off up to a pound or 2 at nite and throughout the next day.

I never knew that about popcorn, I always thought it was fattening and not something you should eat.

popcorn with all the butter and **** mite not be good for someone who is on a regular diet but if it is the day before a match and u weighed out only a tenth under ur weight then popcorn is awsome cuz u can eat a lot without it weighing much. Plus popcorn without butter is actully good for dieting ive herd that u burn more calories chewing it and digesting it then it has in it i dunno know if that is tru or not tho. Another good thing the nite before a match is a slurpe cuz it is filling but when it melts it is only about half the amount of fluid that it is when frozen.
