Another Contest: OCB Midwest
Hey guys,
My contest season has come to an end and it ended on a high note. Last night was the OCB Midwest State (Pro Qualifier), my 2nd contest (1st-10/27). My initially concern with doing a contest three week later was holding my condition over the three week period but I was able to come in leaner and tighter. Only my teammate stood in my way of a Pro-Card. I threaten to pull a "Tonya Harding" on him when we went on stage for the overall but he was too nice of a guy .
The show was at a great venue: The Egyptian Theater. The show was run extremely well. Jim Cordova, coming off his Overall win at the "Worlds", was the guest poser, who is just unbelievable and pictures don't do him justice. He really got the audience pumped for the show and the excitement held through the entire show.
If you would have told me 6 months ago I would be at this moment, I would not have believed it. It took a lot of hard work and support to get here but all the sacrifices, and there were sacrifices, was worth it.
Once I get over the post contest binge (feeling like a stuffed pig - was warned but didn't listen), I'll get back into the gym. As many calories as I've consumed the last 24hrs, it should be immediately . Btw Chris, I'm not looking back and wishing I had... - thanks!!!!

Thanks everyone! As I said, it has been an amazing journey and one that I wouldn't (couldn't) trade for the world. I've pushed my self further than I thought I would, although somewhere deep inside of me I was hoping it was there . I had a lot of support along the way so this is by no mean, in my mind, an individual accomplishment. SO AGAIN THANK YOU!!!!
Also, I didn't tell anyone my age because I wanted to simply be judged on what I presented on stage w/o the statement, "he looks good for...". I could have always used the age thing later if needed . I think I represented the over 40-Crowd well. It just goes to show you that if you make up your mind, you can accomplish so much more than you believe. The old cliche is definitely applicable here, If I can do it, then anyone can!
It was surprising how many people came up to Tommy, Layne, or myself and said, "I looked like a smaller version of him (Tommy)". We were dressed similarly, posing trunks nearly same color, etc (see chillin pic). I took it as a compliment and w/tongue in cheek said, "give me a year" .
Btw, I was old enough to be, most if not all, the guys' fathers in the Men's Open Short and was by far the oldest. It was a tough class and they keep us out for a while. I completed in the Master's first so come time for the Open Short, they immediately moved me to the far left. I was like "oh sh!t". They then moved me back to the center - OK relief. As Isabel (Layne's Fiance) noted, since they had already seen me, I was moved so they could compare the other guys, and then bring me back to the middle for the final comparison.
I meet a lot of nice people that I hope I can stay in contact. After the event, lets just say I tried to make up for the long weeks of dieting in two days . The night of the event I ate: white chocolate covered pretzels, a very big hamburger, and nearly 2lbs of French Fries. Sunday: I eat half a cheesecake, cereal, brown snap crackers. When I wasn't eating, I was sleeping. I actually made myself sick .
Time to enjoy the OFF SEASON! Thanks again everyone !!!!

I know, I've been stalking you.
Nice job, was that the one you had to wing it on due to the wrong music?
