L-Glutamine - uses ??
I know that many of you feel L-Glutamine is useless, while many feel it is usefull only to preserve muscle when cutting.
I met a few guys that are on L-glutamine all year round and swear by it, they are all over 45 though.
Can it be of bigger benifit to older guys vs. younger guys ?
My question: Is L-glutamine usefull for anything other than muscle preservation durring cutting ?
All I know is it is damn expensive and I liked the results I have seen and felt from it. (Preserves muscles and I think aided in recovery, I even felt harder bigger pumps)
Any opinions would be appreciated.

I have used it bulking. It's hard to be objective about it since I was using BCAA's, whey protein, creatine, etc. and eating lots at the same time. I have since read it's unnecessary when bulking, but I got good results from my little stack. Next time I bulk I think I'll try leaving it out and see if I notice a difference. I'll definitely be using it cutting though.

Is there a difference between L-Glutamine and just Glutamine?
these 2 terms are always thrown around, and the meaning of both of them are getting obscured.

hey Chi_Town, i think the glutamine is a little expensive to be taking as a year round supp (especially here, it's around $100:00 for 1000 grams) but everyone i know who has used it says it is great for when you are restricting calories. i was using it a while ago and thought it was quite good for maintaining size although i wasn't dieting real strict. just as a matter of interest i started using creatine (Prolab) and uniliver (Universal) about 2 weeks ago and i'm just filling up. i also found some stuff on endomorphs so i'll try and send it to your personal e-mail. if you don't get it just type in "endomorph bodybuilding" and i got a long list of stuff when i was a little more specfic. hope your well and training hard. GlutaMEAN!
Yeah, I'm guilty of using Glutamine while bulking. So, I got the cash to waste! I only used it, figuring that since it would help me recover, and that it kinda works in synergy with creatine, and it helps maintain your immune system. Other than that, I plan to keep it for cutting up instead. To answer the question of the difference between L-Glutamine, or just Glutamine, there is none. L-Glutamine could be in reference to the free-form version of the amino acid, like we would buy overpriced bottles of. Glutamine Peptides are aminos that are bonded with a peptide, so the digestive system can't completely destroy them before they're absorbed in the small intestine. You'll find the peptide version in your favorite protein shake, providing that they add it, or the protein is complete enough to already contain them.

You can't take Glutamine and Creatine at the same time.. they both use the same carrier. So take them about 2 hours or more apart from each other. Same thing with Calcium and ZMA - both use the same carrier..
Not trying to diss or anything, just trying to help

Protein and Glutamine??
Well, is it ok to mix whey protein with Glutamine?
I drink a whey shake immediately after working out, but shouldn't I also be putting Glutamine back into my system at that point?
Is this a good/safe practice?
-thanks-

well im not sure if they use the same carrier?,but they sure act on the same type of receptors.usually people recommend taking creatine before and glutamine after with protein shake, but ive used the recommendation posted of creatine with glutamine for best results.since it worked very well for me i recommended it ,BUT LOTS OF PEOPLE DONT ADVICE IT.

I mix protein and glutamine after my workout like this:
I drink the protein shake first, then mix glutamine with orange juice immediately afterward. This lets me get a fair amount of carbs after my workout too.
