Best Meals for Weightlifting competition
I am training for my first weightlifting competition on 9-25-02, i know it is small, its for my college, but I want to do my very best of course.
I was wondering if there are any particular meals i need to focus on the day of the competition. What is going to give me strength and endurance? I am in three events, one of which is leg press, and i know if I do this first I am going to be losing lots of energy, so is there some magic foods to look for? I think the competition starts around 6 or 7pm, so i was giong to hit a big breakfast, and a high energy lunch.
What do you guys suggest?

you should be focussing on your diet every day for maximum results...not just the day of.

that helps
i understand that diet is probly the most important aspect to getting stronger/bigger, but I am limited to funds/time( i am a college student with a cheap paying job) and have to eat accordingly. I am looking for a meal that is going to promise me energy and no sore stomach.
i mean come on, i can probly figure this out, high energy:
let me eat some steak, eggs, protein shake....
I am just wanting to be sure I dont eat something that is going to wipe me out
thanks

i usualy have 2 eggs and grits or oatmeal in the morning, i work from 9-3 so i have a nutrigrain bar around 10, then i have a peanutbutter and honey sandwiche around 12, then either a chickfila sandwiche or pizza aound 230, usually a shake around 530, and then comes the junk, but hardees has this monster burger for $3, and its pretty damn big, double cheese and bacon, it taste damn good too. then i eat something before bed, usually a shake, but not always, sometimes just a bubba burger, no bread.
i have a real high metabolism, so I dont have to worry about fat, but I am sure that I could benefit from healthier foods,
for now i am just looking for a meal that will give me the energy i need to be in the gym for maybe 2 hours, not working out, but just doing the events one at a time.

I would advise sipping on a weight gainer such as N Large II throughout the event. Don't drink it all at once as you do not want to spike your insulin for fear of an insulin crash but the maltodextrin in it should give you a good amount of energy. Taking a gram or 2 of L-Tyrosine may also help you with focus.
