Meditation (serious)
So I started looking into meditation because I think I am way too stressed out over life. I'm almost 20 years old and my life has gone nowhere. My fault of course but I think that it is getting to me. Anyway, I was looking into starting meditation to relieve stress and all that and was wondering if anybody here does meditation? And does it work?
I was thinking of just starting basic breathing meditation where you focus on your breathing pattern to relax and find peace. Anybody tried this?

Your suppose to just focus on breathing to clear your mind. If you start wondering your suppose to re-focus on breathing. From what I read, it can take some time before your thoughts are totally clear. Usually you will have tons of thoughts racing through your head at first because you are beginning to become aware of how much is actually in your mind.

we used to do it before every karate class would begin when i was a kid.
just sit down, close your eyes, and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. after a while you'll open your eyes and wonder how much time had passed.
now i find that i'll do it involuntarily, which has made for some awkward moments. i'll just space out staring at something and when that something is a chick, it doesn't end well.

I've looked into it a bit. I stutter pretty frequently so I was thinking of practicing my breathing and meditating.. just relaxing in general would help prevent it.

I'm going to start because my doctor thinks that I might have anxiety and I'm not going to be put on a pill for that. The cause of anxiety is stress, to relieve the stress I want to meditate, which would then stop the anxiety. I hope
