I heard this works pretty well with burning fat and improving muscle tone. Are there any immediate or later side effects with this product. Does it stunt growth? What stores can I find this at?

What is strange about all the studies is that the weight/fat loss was quite extreme. Sometimes 5%-9% BF reductions.
The only thing I can conclude is that the CLA is really making up for some type of serious nutrition deficit in the study subjects that does not exist in the healthier, athletically trained set around here. Most (all) of the studies are conducted using obese and morbidly obese subjects. Perhaps if we had 50%-60% BF to start with we would see the dramatic results of the studies.I got a fever, and the only prescription is...more cowbell!

CLA is not a wonder supplement but does serve a purpose. Combined with a healthy diet this can help with a leaner body composition. To say it doesn't work is rather ingnorant considering you are basing claims from "forum rumors" or out of your own failed experience. Here some studies which show the effectiveness of CLA on altering body composition. Until you gain a PhD or even an undergraduate degree for that matter I suggest you keep your baseless opinions to yourself. There is a ton of research which gives positive support towards CLA.

I've been using 3-5 grams per day of CLA from Twinlab over the past 2 or 3 mos. in combo w/ a couple of other things. Namely, ECA or yohimbine. I've taken off approx. 5 bodyfat percentage points.
Not sure exactly what did it, but something's working. I think CLA is solid, but takes time. Everything I've heard about it's effectiveness is dependent upon at least 3 mos of continuous use.
I end up getting it pretty cheap, so I plan to continue to use it during this last month of slow cutting and also into my upcoming bulking phase. I figure if it's slowly, but steadily reducing BF, I'll stick w/ it...certainly can't hurt.

Supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid for 24 months is well tolerated by and reduces body fat mass in healthy, overweight humans.
After 12 mo in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) supplementation (2 groups received CLA as part of a triglyceride or as the free fatty acid, and 1 group received olive oil as placebo), 134 of the 157 participants who concluded the study were included in an open study for another 12 mo. The goals of the extension study were to evaluate the safety [with clinical chemistry analyses and reported adverse events (AEs)] and assess the effects of CLA on body composition [body fat mass (BFM), lean body mass (LBM), bone mineral mass (BMM)], body weight, and BMI. All subjects were supplemented with 3.4g CLA/d in the triglyceride form. Circulating lipoprotein(a) and thrombocytes increased in all groups. There was no change in fasting blood glucose. Aspartate amino transferase, but not alanine amino transferase, increased significantly. Plasma total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol were reduced, whereas HDL cholesterol and triglycerides were unchanged. The AE rate decreased compared with the first 12 mo of the study. Body weight and BFM were reduced in the subjects administered the placebo during the initial 12 mo study (-1.6 +/- 3.2 and -1.7 +/- 2.8 kg, respectively). No fat or body weight changes occurred in the 2 groups given CLA during the initial 12 mo. LBM and BMM were not affected in any of the groups. Changes in body composition were not related to diet and/or training. In conclusion, this study shows that CLA supplementation for 24 mo in healthy, overweight adults was well tolerated.
