Muscle Milk and Whey? Should I take them both!?

I have ordered "Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein" but I hear I should take it along with CytoSport Muscle Milk. Please tell me what the difference between the Whey and Muscle Milk is. Should I get them both? When should I take them? I want to lose weight and gain strength by the way.

Even when bulking, Muscle Milk should only be used as a absolute last resort.

When the time comes to bulk, focus on quality, calorie dense foods instead.

Muscle Milk isn't bad. If it fits into your macronutrient requirements then go ahead and use it.

EFA's (fish oil) are an essential supplement that every human being on earth should be taking, save perhaps eskimos and other cultures that eat a great deal of cold water fish.
Don't waste your money on glutamine unless you are going to main line it.

That is exactly what I consume for post workout. I mix 16 oz of 1% milk, 1 scoop of ON Whey, and 1 scoop of Muscle Milk (Can't go wrong with Mocha or cookies n' cream!). Then of course, I have real whole foods...baked potato, banannas, salmon..etc. Muscle Milk, however, can get pricey, if you take the recommended 2 scoops per serving. If you take the 2 scoops per serving, then that nearly $30 tub will only last you 2 weeks. NOT very cost effective compared to ON Whey.

Sorry guys, we all know this topic has been beaten to death, and pu12en12g has provided an excellent link to this much debated topic, but I wanted to address this question with these attachments.

Check out this article from the July 2005 issue of Muscular Development.
It details the pro/cons of glutamine supplementation. (Hopefully you guys can read it!)

    Good luck.

People don't like Muscle Milk because it has a lot of fat and calories per serving. It is also primarily a micellar casein blend.

Sure. Good fish oil supplements are molecularly distilled so you won't have to worry about mercury and PCB's if you buy a good brand. NOW is a good brand. I'd probably go with the NOW Omega-3. It's a bit cheaper.

OK sweet I think I will get that. I have 1 LAST question. Tell me how Muscle Milk gives you creatine because I was wanting to just put 1 scoop (the normal size is 2) into my protine shakes so I can have some creatine and a little more protine.

I know this guy's trying to cut/gain strength but for all us hardgainers out there, isn't the fat in Muscle Milk a PLUS for bulking up?? Btw, I recommend that you use Isopure as it has 0 carbs and hardly any calories. ON however, is notorious for having the best calorie-protein ratio.

agreed theres like 18 grams of fat in one serving. Shoule be like 5-10. For a good caesin with lower fat try VPX's Micellean. I think it has like 1 g of fat.

Well I thought I could half the serving and add it to my protine shake of whey. Is that a good idea? And is VPX's Micellean just another protine shake because I have already ordered 5lbs of the whey.
