Simple question. Don't want to buy something and end up not likeing it and wasting it.
So...
I never ate salmon before. Does it have more of a fish taste or more like tuna?

Tastes like... salmon. It has a pretty mild flavor. Personally, I like it more than tuna. Just buy a little and see how you like it! It's not like you're making a huge commitment.

Salmon tastes like salmon. In other words, just have at it. You wont gag if you don't find it palatable - it doesn't have a strong fish taste.

It really has it's own taste. Doesn't taste like chicken, steak, milk or potatos...
Give it a try. If you've never had it before, then try it cooked first, then go for raw (sushi). Definitely one of the best foods you can eat.

they make a 1.50 can of salmon for a reason.. its not going to break ur wallet.. get out and experiment.. ive never had it either.. but i work @ a fine dining resturant and it looks absolutely delcious.. im gonna pick some up when i get a chance eat it pre-bed with some veggies n maybe a bit of olive oil.. or as a snack throughout the day when im on the goOriginally Posted by TooBigForYou

personally i much prefer oven-baked salmon over canned salmon.
smoked salmon has a more fishy taste.

1) buy 8oz salmon
2) preheat oven to 375
3) place salmon on aluminum foil, coat bottom and top with olive oil
4) sprinkle pepper, garlic salt, dill weed, and 1/2 tbsp lemon juice on salmon
5) fold the sides of aluminum foil over the salmon so its in a "pouch"
6) place into oven for 25 minutes
7) remove salmon, put another 1/2 tbsp lemon juice on
8) enjoy salmon

Salmon is a member of the trout family . . .
So if u've ever tasted any kind of trout, salmon is similar. It's a very tender, delicious fish, w/o a strong fishy taste.

Depends on what species of salmon. Stick with Sockeye.

Salmon has a very strong fishy taste. To nullify this taste, marinade your salmon in lemon/lime juice (or diet 7up for low cal) for a couple of hours in the 'fridge. Brush the fish with olive oil, then season with fresh cracked pepper and a dash of salt and grill on high heat evenly on both sides. Tastes best medium-rare.

Get some skinless boneless salmon and marinate it in a "healthly" marinade. Put it in some aluminum foil, Spray the foil with a non calorie cooking spray and put whatever other spices you want into the foil. (I've used onions, peppers, and garlic.) Then put on coals (of a grill) for about 10-15 min. It will fall apart on your fork when its done. I tend to cheat a little when I have salmon and I don't use the healthest marinade. I also put the marinade in the foil with the salmon when I cook it. Also double up the foil so it doesn't fall apart or get torn on the coals.
Canned is absoultly terrible and the smell is nasty.
