how much protein do i need?

I'm sooooo confused with what everyone keeps telling me about how much protein i need! Can anyone help me out here?I'm 137lbs and 22% BF trying to get at least under 20% BF right now (short term goal). I'd like to maintain my current muscle mass. i'd say i'm taking in between 85-100g protein daily (1800 calories) Based on this, let me know what you think

    Thumbs up

Men "usually" take 1g protien per pound of body weight per day.
I was told that women should take their body weight divided in 1/2 and thats how many grams of protien they should consume per day. But every-1 is different.

Protein shakes etc.. Just eat through out the day. Don't try and take in all the food at once.

I shoot for 1 gram per pound also. It's easy when you break up your intake into 5-6 meals.

    I'm around 150... so 150 divided by 5 = about 30 grams per meal.

    According to Fitday.com...

    4oz chicken breast is 34g
    1c Egg whites is 26g
    4oz salmon is 24g
1c NF cottage cheese is 26g

...even a cup of oats has 6g... and 1cup brown rice has 5g
